Subject: more information

Hi, many thanks for sending me the prices for the 2 units I inquired about.

Could you give me some more information regarding the WD6019 Skoda 2 unit at $345 please.

Will I need a replacement facia panel or will this unit go strait in where the stream original radio came out, without any other modifications, also can you plug a separate microphone in the back of the unit so that the microphone can be placed much closer to the driver.

If I wanted one how would I pay for it, and do you have a supplier in the UK

Not yet; I have the 2006/2007 maps I think with TMC but you can get newer maps. Yes it is only 2D Mapping but it seems pretty good. I like the duplicated display in the maxidot and sound is pretty good too.

I am adding an Aux in tonight which will keep me tide over for a while but may look at a phatbox to increase my music collection as I used to have a USB interface head unit in my Toledo.

Much cheaper than an MFD3 and can get some good bargains....might be worth a punt.

I have what looks like the same fascia as you are using on the MFD3 *but with dual zone climate* so should just fit in.

Good for you Nathanio, good for you.

Just trying to provide alternatives, no need for the sarcasm

I take it that your unit is the same shape as the stream???mfd3, what does it all have, and is it plug and play

Not sure bout stream but is same shape as MFD3 (double DIN jobbie).

Mine was factory fitted but looking at Stus guide it didn't look hard. Supports;

  • CD Changer
  • Radio (obviously!)
  • Aux in
  • Media In (can take TV Tuner etc and can get adapter for video in)
  • Supports Phatbox
  • 2D Mapping
  • Bluetooth

Where are you based? I can show you the unit if you like if I can get near you.

The HDD is the thing that I am really missing but with the aux I am hoping it'll do till I can do an MFD3 swap.

Scottish borders

Seems we are poles apart! I am down on the south coast!

Might be someone else on here with an MFD2 that could possibly help

Update, seller sent another unit and it arrived today, got sound from the sat nav but nothing else nothing from Cd's DVDs radio or SD card, nothing would load tried every button on the set up menu pulled it out and re boxed it, stream radio works well so should the MFD3, the inside aerial connector was broken and the security labels had been split. so its going back and i am getting a full refund from ebay.

I may as well try one of these WD6019 -Waywell

Either the seller is giving you dodgy units, a setting on VCDS is wrong and needs changing, or something you're doing is wrong.

Have you posted a request in the VAGcom section requesting assistance from a vagcom owner??? If it's the unit at fault, then there should be error codes.

Yeah, get the Waywell WD6019. It looks AWESOME. It's got the two SD slots which you yearned for on the MFD3. I might get my MFD3 up on ebay today and join you in getting one.

You've had 4 sat navs with no joy now, do you ever just think it's not meant to be? :)

Why bother with ebay? I'm sure plenty here would be interested at the right price if you posted in the forsale section.

I know I may be - providing it's fully working for fitting to an 07 Mk2 Octavia

Skippy, are you definately getting version 1Z..... A units?

Not to sure on that, as the labels where exactly the same, the only difference this time was there was volume on the sat nav, side I set a destination and it spoke

it still refused to play cds or dvds once they where slotted in and there was still no sound from the radio

Sounds like the seller is getting bad units, I would get a refund from the bay and try a different seller. The one I got mine from still has excellent feedback on the skoda nav units. Mine worked fine as soon as I installed it, and 12 months later is still working perfectly.

I cant believe you are considering yet another one of those cheap chinese Windows CE based devices, considering the amount of hassle you will have getting it working again. Dont forget, these dont switch on/off with ign, wont show anything in the maxidot or work properly with the MFSW.

Who supplied your MFD3 Mannyo?

I got one from Ebay and it worked without problems - it looked to be a recon unit but most, if not all, are.

The Ebay seller was Octopus183 I think, they're based in Manchester & Leeds. If you contact him/them and do a deal direct you will make a huuuuge saving.

Regarding the sound, as I mentioned earlier in this thread plugging the aerial into the wrong connector on the rear of the unit will prevent all audio from the unit (even CDs/DVD) to be honest I never tried the satnav until I got the radio working.

Hope this helps

It going back on Monday. I tried both aerial sockets no radio sound, I tried to get Cd's DVDs and even an SD card I borrowed of my daughter nothing loaded and no sound.

Right another question why would I get sound from the sat nav once a route was set??/, I think I will just forget about one and get bluetooth fitted to my stream that's if it can be done as it has a phone button in the menu

skippy - just double checking, but you know the volume settings for nav and media / radio are different right? With a cd / mp3 playing (seconds ticking by on the screen) you've turned the volume up?

Dont forget , if going for the oem bluetooth install, when used with a stream you must have a maxidot display otherwise you will not be able to control the unit. All the stream option does is mute the audio source and play your phone call through the headunit.

Skippy - I think you should get another Columbus and give that a try, getting two U/S ones is a bit unlucky so you have to wonder is there an underlying issue that you are missing or are you just plain unlucky.

Or plain simple stop buying the cheapest one out there?

I dont even get play or loading or even whats on the the media and the transit screws where not in the top of the unit, as soon as you put any media in it goes to the screen with the media choices then refuses to go any further

Before I fitted the second unit I had the aerial replaced by the dealers along with the amp as that was one of the faults found

But have you had a local member with vagcom check for errors first?

There are some members on here that have bought this unit, had them up and running without any problems, the ignition was bypassed by running a live feed, even though its commonly known as the winton,
