Which strutbrace(s) for vRS

Featured Replies

OK, following the advice of many my first mod will be to fit a strutbrace or two. So which, how many and where, and how much?

Aim is obviously better roadholding and they should complement both the standard suspension and Eibach springs/dampers which is further down my list.

Thanks in advance for any help and please excuse my ignorance! :o

OK best bet for the upper front is the seat sport one from the ibiza (approx

If you just get the upper front & lower front but not the rear cos you haven't lowered it, will it **** things up? or will it be still much better and how much of an improvement is there...

Think Andy was refereing to dropping rear suspension to fit the lower suspension brace, not lowering the suspension.

i'd say go for the ibiza omp brace...or be different like me and get the Forge one...even though its been MORE THAN A MONTH and its 'still not ready' (fair enough they did say 3-4 weeks...but i was thinking on the lower side of three to four weeks...not upper. plus its shiny chrome...if it ever gets here.

Have a look in the review section Furball (top menu bar), lots of input with regards to braces and suspension related mods :)

Cheers Ross.

Checked the reviews and found details on the Seatsport upper front brace - sounds good.

Is the concensus to go for lower front and rear as well, or will just the upper front do the trick (both with standard and uprated suspension)? please comment on cost/hassle to fit vs benefit.

Thanks,

Stephen

I've got the upper front brace only, happy enough with that and the Koni/Eibach set up.

Graeme went for the lower brace and did mention it was a bit too stiff.

I'm using a standard arb and vrs springs/dampers and its not too stiff but can get a bit bouncy but turns on a sixpence.

Andy, Eibach springs and dampers will get rid of the bounce without ruining the ride quality. I hear someone on here has some TDI springs for sale ;)

Stephen there is a group buy in the GROUP BUY & PROMOTION section on the forum where we are getting the lower Strut Brace dirt cheap. I will be fitting mine first and taking photos etc then creating a write up on "HOW TO FIT THE LOWER STRUT BRACE" for everyone to use. I have the upper one and tried it out for the first time the other day and the car turns in alot quicker yet the suspension comfort is not compromised.
