And today I got these delivered, in need of a refurb, but they do look good on a Mk3 - 17x7 VW Longbeach alloys, normally found on a Bora Highline:

It's gonna be reasonably slow process for the time being, all money dependant! The "short-term" plans are roughly 6 months, with the long term maybe 2 years away!

I've been quoted £1500 all in for a respray of the whole car, minus the roof.

Includes all the bodywork listed above, so not too bad really.

However they didn't have any recently completed work there, so nothing to judge the standards of their work :(

This is going get pricey :(

But think about the finished product :)

Can't advise on the respray as I know nothing but there must be loads of places in Preston? Have you asked on mkivs.net?

Babs, I am going to keep a very close eye on this thread as I have a green mk3 gti and have some ideas. I wish I had of got a Vr but money was short. Good luck with it as it looks good.

Cheers!

As I've said, progress will initially be slow! I'll probably spend the coming months stock-piling parts etc. I'm confident I can keep this car for a while, as it's a car I've wanted.

A few of you may have seen my old VW Vento, and I'd probably still have that if I could have afforded to carry on insuring it!

Good choice on the wheels quite a popular choice in the USA. Wish i still had my VR Highline was a mint car.

I run Koni coilovers and Neuspeed front and rear ARB's ride was spot on. Shame it was destroyed by an idiot in a Corsa van :thumbdwn:

I've found the front end washes out a little, so that's gonna be on the list of things to sort (and I'm aware of the great-big lump over the front wheels!).

Did the ARBs help with that?

Great choice on the Long Beaches and wish I had sourced a set of those for my Bora when I had it for use in the winter..........

Nice motor mate and some serious potential.........

I was looking at a combination slightly higher engine mounts and the shallower Mk5 R32 sump as detailed on Vortex, to give some more clearance on the sump.
