Dension Gateway 100/300 CAN with Maxidot integration fitted

Featured Replies

Hope to God the V21 works with the MFD3 otherwise I'm going to be seriously gutted. I used a Dension kit in my Punto for four years and apart from the odd hiccup it was excellent. I'm hoping to fit a Columbus and am desperately hoping the V21 will integrate properly!

I do not have a Bolero unit to test it with but it will be the same as the MFD3. I will have pictures of this working tomorrow as a briskoda member is allowing me to test-fit one to his car.

If you just want the iPod connectivity then yes, you just need the 100 unit, not the 300.

Was this tried with the CD retention lead?

Just wondering - is the No TP message a direct result of adding the Dension Gateway, or you just didn't reconnect the antenna cables for the test?

Also, what model number was used?

We didn't test the CD retention lead, and we didn't hook up the antenna cables - it was purely to test the functionality of the Dension with the MFD3 screen and maxidot.

Unclebulgaria - sorry !!!! Apologies to SWMBO

As Brimma said, I had the MFD3 on my knee so all the connections were accessible, and so the antenna cables weren't connected.

The model used was the GW33V21.

No worries, I can't remember when I last used a CD in the changer! Certainly not since the MFD3 arrived!

Ahhh, SWMBO will have me on domestic duties for months or eating parts of my anatomy! :o

It's OK - you're not tinkering - you're adding - so it shouldn't be a problem explaining it

Failing that - just tell her the bike you're buying is only £500, allowing you spend a little more on the car !

She knows more about bikes than I do, so I'll have to be careful on that one

I have the Audience HU (6CD & the button in the middle) in my Octy. Is it known by another name? i just had a look at the Dension compatability chart & the Audience isn't listed.

Any clues?

edit: It looks the same as a Stream but the Stream looks like it is single CD

The Audience doesn't have a CD changer connection so unfortunately the Dension cannot be fitted to it. You could always "downgrade" to a Stream unit :)

If you could get them to show boost pressure etc too that would be awesome.

Just learned (the reference is in Italian, so I won't link it) the values available via VAG-COM for boost pressure are not always consistent with effective boost measured with a manometer.

It seems you/me have to drill a hole and add a proper probe...

Mailed Dension Pre Sales support and they confirm that the Audience MP3 HU is not compatible. Seems you definetely need a CD changer port on the HU to run these interfaces.

Even if that's odd, because if you command the interface/ipod over the CAN bus, I would guess that a line in should be sufficient.

But seeing what Dension say I believe that the interface just emulates a CD changer (like the old non CAN versions) and the Can bus is used only to command the HU / "CD changer" combination

:(

Maybe you're looking for s.thing like this?

KUFATEC GmbH

No. Too expensive and badly implemented.

Yes, unfortunately that is the case.

I have a Stream MP3 HU and use an MP3 via a cable and connection in the jumbo. The player charges via USB. Would the Dension 100 charge it ? I'm assuming it would as it's part of the "circuit" ? If I wanted to retain the CDC too, is the cable easy to fit ?

Which MP3 player are you referring to? An iPod?
