Open one of them it will ask for the password

The image file will then all be patched together and you will get one image (about 457mb in size) burn that using nero or similar and voila

Carl:thumbup:

Thanks Carl. I thought that but then though it might report its full size even though its missing a chunk.

So now the questions start :D

How long did it take? Does it need power/door open? Does it prompt you for the version you wish to load?

I'm sure I will think of some more but excellent effort so far.

When you enter a destination to navigate to you get route instructions on the maxidot

If you don't change a few settings once this is displayed you can't get out of it (by pressing and holding one of the end stalk buttons) until you switch the MFD3 off and select MFD on the Maxidot. Or you stop navigating.

The same thing happens if you select Audio

For me personally it's not a drama as thats what i look at when it gives me voice command so wouldn't change out of it anyway.

As i said messing with the .FLI files is the biggest cause of units being bricked

Carl:thumbup:

Thanks Carl.

Hmm, a bit of a bummer on long motorway drives when I quite like to switch back to MFD as I know I'll won't be doing anything for an hour or so, but like to keep the nav running to show up any traffic messages...

You won't have to worry then brimma :P

I think it only affects people who have flashed a 1Z0 unit with 3T0 firmware previously but not sure

Ok here are the pics for the New stuff on 2664 firmware

Sorry for the crap pics i took them on the piephone whilst in the car

Hey how do you get the time to show up there? Mine only ever shows audio info... Or is that also new?

It took about 40 mins pretty much the same as all other firmware Flashes

It doesn't ask you to select which firmware it does it for you by reading the information already coded into the unit

DO NOT PUT YOUR KEYS ANYWHERE NEAR THE IGNITION

Basically get in the car turn on MFD3 put disc in follow on screen prompts. Unit reboots several times (i just sat in the car writing reports on my Mac and flicking onto the net to update this and MK5 forum from time to time) and at end it spits the disc out

I kept the drivers door open a little but i don't think it needs it tbh.

Or just follow the instructions in the first post of this thread: Firmware Instructions

It's new (Superb units have had it a while)

Press Setup

Press System

Put a tick in Time display

Voila shows time there when navigating and in middle of screen when on Radio or Media

Apparently you can set climatronic info in the new firmware...can't find it myself...

Im in Folkestone if you fancy a drive :D

Lol! A very kind offer Mater. A bit far unless things get desperate though.....

Any other samaritans out there :D

Am i right in thinking VCDS is ALOT more expensive for a package that it was a few years back?

About £150 for Micro-Can i believe

Have you looked at the VCDS owners list. There must be someone near to you.

If you're passing J4a M3 anytime then let me know. :)

Remember to make the changes mentioned in Firmware update question - VWnavi.com to retain your hidden menu and maxidot functionality.

The image file will then all be patched together and you will get one image (about 457mb in size) burn that using nero or similar and voila

So do I need to edit the file mentioned on vwnavi.com or not

1. Go to Navigation - 37

2. Click on Adaptation - 10

3. Type 50 into the channel box.

4. Change the value from 0 to 1

5. Click on test and press code

6. Exit out of VCDS.

7. Press <> and brightness to reboot the rns-510.

8. Then press setup for about 20 to 30 seconds to enable the secret menu (just keep your finger on it it will go from normal menu to radio then after about 10-15 secs to the hidden menu)

Basically you can vew info like map version software version etc. You can even see your digital speed (in KM/H) in one of the menu's but it's no different to what is displayed on the speedo

So I need VCDS then :thumbdwn:

If you want to Risk bricking the unit just so you can check your fuel consumption then yes.

Personally i wouldn't but it's up to you

If i want to check my fuel consumption then i just come out of the navigation see what it says and then re-start the navigation.

So without the modification, exiting out of the Navi menu/screen on the Maxidot cancels the current route then?

Therefore, if I have an incoming phone call the route I have programmed in is lost?

No

You can't manually get off the route instruction display by pressing the end of the Stalk. You either have to turn the unit off or cancel the route.

If you get an incoming call i assume it still displays ( i have a parrot kit not OEM so not sure)

I believe this problem is only for people who Flash a 1Z0 unit with 3T0 firmware (like i did i changed from 1024 - 0904 for some of the Superb Version Functionality)

If your Maxidot works now ok i think it does after this upgrade but don't quote me :)

Well if you are sure then that it will be fine then.... ;)

As i said im not 100% so don't quote me but i think it works normally if your maxidot works normally now :)

Carl:thumbup:

How would I check what firmware version is on my RNS510?

Stu - do you know what model I have got?

Using the Secret Menu

When in there i think its the first option it tells you which Firmware/Map version you have etc

Ahh - I dont have the secret menu!

Mine came via VRStu in March 2008, and ideas? Would this update work on mine? Does it pick up any previous updates?

Does search for VCDS owners list :D :D

Lol, I used to pass J4a all the time going to our Farnborough branch.....will keep that in mind!

Cheers

Have a look on the VagCom owners map see if anyone is near you.

If you fancy a trip to Folkestone I'm about tomorrow but then im away with work for a couple of weeks
