Octavia Long delivery times

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I ordered my 1.4 TSi hatch on 20th June and it is now at the dealers, has been registered (yesterday) and I am now waiting for the Skoda insurance to come through before collecting it on Friday.

So, all in all, just a touch over 3 months, but this was ordered when they had difficulties with the Tsi engine supply.

Huh? Week 47 is 15-21 November.

I ordered my car last weekend and was provisionally given a build week 49 (first week Dec). The dealer said that because it's a confirmed customer order (as opposed to the dealer just putting in an order for stock) that it would most likely be brought forward. The dealer estimated delivery around the beginning of December.

It all depends on any options youve specified i think?

Ordered a 1.9tdi elegance estate with sunset glass 2 weeks ago. Phoned dealer for update on delivery date. He has been quoted February!! He has been at VAG who have brought the date back a bit, but his story is software problem at factory, and problems with the new bolero radio units. Sounded a bit sus, anyone got any inside info.

Skoda have taken up three new shifts at factory in CZ. They said that demand is so high that delays may be part of the production process but hope to catch up within two- three months. That was back in August. Hope that helps...

My dealer said delays were coming down. He said delays were ~12 weeks, but felt that at present they were more likely to be 8-10 weeks. No reason for him to bull me as he already had the sale. I'll be upset if I don't get mine by December.

Email from my dealer received today, seems mine has jumped the queue and he thinks potentially it could jump another week

Should def take delivery end of October/1st week November now :D

Mine's jumped from an estimated week 44 to week 42, so should be first week of November with a bit of luck.

So when did you both order your cars and therefore how long from ordering to driving the car away?

I ordered a new FL VRS TDI 170CR on Monday in Porn race blue with auto dimming mirror with spare wheel and airbag. My dealer said it was on build week 46 with a delivery of week 50. Im signing the paperwork tomorrow as the finance has been approved, so I will quiz him. He did state that I can keep my car until delivery of the new one and the price will be held and all the vat and finance would remain as the order was placed well in advance of the cut offs. I will advise tomorrow afternoon.

I've ordered via DtD and the dealer said I'm approved for the 0% however, I've not signed anything yet, only had a recept for deposit. Should I worry?

I am in exactly the same position. DTD weren't confident about delivering before year-end, but initial build given as week 45. Not heard more since. All I have is receipt for deposit, and confirmation letter from DTD and verbal confirmation that finance is agreed.

Anybody got any updated news on the VAT offer issue. (If a car arives this year then it's 15% if next year, unless Darling extends it, its 17.5%). I ordered mine just before the 1st Oct price rises:thumbup:. One dealer stated Skoda state max of 12 weeks delivery so Skoda will sort the extra 2.5% if it goes over the 12 weeks into next year:thumbup:. Another tells me that i would have the pay the additional 2.5%:thumbdwn:.

Anybody know ?

I went into my dealer today to sign the paperwork, and he advised in order to fulfill customer orders Skoda will take orders until the end of this month and then essentially the offer will stop, as they can only guarantee an 8 week window. After this time they cant so the vat would go up, even if you were able to secure 0%. My build week is Week 49, but he is hopefull of this coming forward, and he showed me list of customer orders which had build week changes.....to which there were a fair few. He is realistic of a delivery date of the first week in December.....so fingers crossed.

I think a lot of confusion has been caused by Skoda calling it VAT free. It's not VAT free at all, it's just a plain discount that is approximately equal to the difference between the excluding VAT price and the including VAT price. I wish they, and other organisations, wouldn't do this and there is no such thing as "no VAT" or "we'll pay the VAT". It makes my blood boil.:mad::mad:

My only concern would be when does the applied VAT rate count? Is it when the goods are ordered, the goods paid for or the goods delivered?

With regards to the discount, I would make Skoda honour it on pain of cancelling the order. It's not quite as simple with the VAT, although it's worth asking for an additional discount to compensate is the car is late, again on pain of cancellation.

VAT rate pravails at the time of payment. So, even if the invoice is for Dec 31st, if you pay following day, its at 17.5%.

I'm getting mine on a PCP, so that makes things even more confusing. I belive that there's no VAT to pay on the finance payments as that's already been taken care of, but the maintenance payments are subject to VAT. I may end up having to pay extra on those that are due after 1st January, but we're not talking enough money to get worked up about. It would be nice to know though.

It was a stupid idea reducing the VAT in the first place. It causes more confusion than it's worth.

I posted this on another thread about price rises this month, but it might have the info some of you need on VAT:

Hi guys

Although it appears that the date on the invoice is the important thing, its only half the story. The important thing is the "tax point" which with many things ends up being the same as the invoice date, but in this case will probably be for most people the time when they are supplied with the goods.

If the supply is after 1/1/10 then the vat rate is 17.5% which means that the vat included in the price will rise by 2.5% (although the increase is based on the net price, so you won't be paying 2.5% more on the total, more like 2.13%)

Most firms will have in their terms of sale document a clause which says "it's not our fault if vat rates change" so they're not obliged to absorb the increase for the customer. Some probably will absorb it for good customer relations etc but it will vary per dealer, since depending on how much in the way of orders they have that fall into this scenario, they may/may not be able to afford to do this.

My local dealer has said they'll honour their pre-vat increase prices

Not wanting to sound smug, but my fl will be here in 3 weeks so I'm fine!

Hope this helps

oh and ps if the dealer says "no it's ok, as long as the invoice is pre-31/12 then it's ok" well that's fine, as it's their problem when they get a nice visit from mr hmrc officer

Ordered early Sept, was quoted week 52, now been told it will be next week! (19th Oct)

Presume that there was one already on the build line that became available, e.g. a cancelled order. Just check that it matches your original spec.

If it is all ok, then good news

Ordered my vRS on Tues 28th Sept

Last week dealer looked on the computamabob and said it was down for build in week 2 in 2010

Spoke to them today and build is now week 51, which still means a January delivery to me
