Well, I'm completely new to the world of Skoda...just bought my first one, 2000 Fabia 1.4 16V Elegance. And I absolutely blooming love it!!

Have previously driven old Polo...ford Focus...Vauxhall Vectra...Ford Escort....another old Polo...a few others in between...

Wanted to upgrade my car to something with aircon and a little bit more get up and go, but with cheaper tax... was orginally looking for a MK4 golf but couldn't find any I liked in my price range...then I looked at Polo's...similar story...then my bf questioned my need for the next car to be a VW... "can't it just be VAG?" he dared to ask.

So..he searched autotrader for me and came up with the most gorgeous black fabia with alloys, cream interior, aircon (even in the glove box, WOW!!) and pretty low mileage too at just over 67000.

I was almost sold!

Went to view it today and couldnt get over how good it looked! The drive is smooth, gear changes effortless, and such power!

Only one niggle...the clutch is riding high...but for the price I got it, Im not gonna moan!

Anyway, looking forward to meeting some new peeps here and forgive me if I ask lots of questions, being new to this car!

Yeah... just seen it - pretty clueless when it comes to car mechanics!

Maybe take a look in the Fabia forum? You might have been better off posting in there but I'm sure a friendly mod will move it if necessary!

You probably already know this, but all clutches are slightly different to each other, so it's maybe just a case of getting used to the different biting point.

As for the clutch, I've read that a high clutch isnt unusual, so im thinking it might just be normal.

Gonna get it serviced by my father in law at the end of the month, so he will check it then!
