Am i the youngest Fab vRS owner on this site?

Featured Replies

Sorry for the boring thread, just asking out of curiosity

I got my car recently when i just turned 19... does that make me the youngest Fabia vRS owner on this forum, or is there younger??

I think there's younger, but not vRS driving.

How's it worked out with insurance on the vRS being that young? :D

Most people wouldnt insure me on it, Churchill only insured me as they had already quoted me (which they shouldnt have) but because i was quoted they had to honor it

But still am I the youngest? :)

odd its only group 9 so not exactly lots i know 19 yearolds who own 172/cups/182's and pay not much more :s

The status on the car is (by most insurers) you must be 21 and have had a license for 3 years

crikey lol well good show then :D

As a thought...what will you be doing at renewal time then if the only quote you got was "in error"?

Rob.

Well they would have to honour it surely if he's an existing customer insuring same car they've insured him on for a year?

Mentally I believe I'm the youngest member to own a Fab Vrs :D About 8!!

Well done Walkie, nice to see someone getting a bit of a bargain out of an insurance company!

Hope you haven't chavved it up too much! ;)

I'd back your claim up C.J.

Honour what though? Come renewal time, they'll go to calculate a quote and find that they shouldn't...so they'll either refuse a renewal, or quote him an absurdly high figure...

Rob.

I had a similar situation with LV about 5 years ago and they insured me second time around that's why I assumed Churchill would too...

Not saying they wouldn't...but if the only way to get a decent insurance quote is through the company's error, I wouldn't like to rely on it working a second time around, especially if I was aware I still wouldn't fit the criteria most companies are insuring for!

Rob.

No I realise that... I would just hope for the best in a year's time... :)

The only reason I posted that reply is because it is very similar to a previous situation of mine... :o

Apparently, they can not deny me insurance on a car they have previously insured me on unless my status changes eg.6 points etc, so we shall see

Was going to get a Lupo GTi (very chav indeed) before i ventured to the motor show and fell in love with the interior of the vRS, then 2 days before i put a deposit down on a Lupo Gti, Top Gear (thank god) showed how good the vRS was, so i saved that little bit more, bought one, and have absolutly NO regrets

Any way thats enough about my life :)

myself and chrisR's son - ben, both drive fabias, myself the 1.4 and himself the 1.2 respectively, and we're both 17...

alas. a vrs is just a BIT out of my price range lol.

Excellent Walkie..and from someone who's only a little bit older than me too!!

There's hope for today's youth after all. :D

Just keep those fog lights off if it's not foggy though ey! ;)

I didn't think there was any legal requirement for an insurance company to give you cover, any more then there's a requirement for any shop to serve you a second time if they don't want to...

Where did you find this out from?

The other danger is that they might offer you insurance, but make it prohibitively expensive... :(

Rob.

I started driving before Walkie was born! I have never had an accident, and have a full clean driving license, and the fullest no claims bonus humanly possible. I am not a publican or a turf accountant, so quite a good risk I thought. My broker quoted

I think location/postcode will have a lot to do with it. You'd have to compare where you both live...

You may be right there... If worst comes to worst and churchill and other regulars (Tesco etc...) dont insure me, i will have to bite the bullet and go with a performance orientated insurer like Adrian Flux, lets just hope it doesnt come to that

But for now i just want to enjoy the car

I don't think anyone cares you may be the youngest vRS owner or not on the board, just as long as you don't drive like a immature plank who thinks they know everything..

..driving can be a great past-time, but its ruined by those who take it too far and make the rest of us suffer. [you can apply your own experiences to that bit of philosophical barble if you wish folks].
