Two difficult problems with my Superb II. Please help.

Featured Replies

Hello,

Today my new Superb went to the dealer because i have two difficult problems.

The first problem has to do with the Columbus navigation system.

There was someone here at the forum who has the same problem but i don't know if his problem is already solved and what the solution was. If i put the volume level at about 60 or 70 percent the speakers cutt of. Today at the dealer they have put a new columbus inside my car which they took out of a brandnew superb. The problem stays the same. After reinstalling the new columbus in the new superb, they discoverded that also in that new superb the problem occured. The dealer does not know what the cause is. Anybody had heard this before???

The second problem with my superb is the right rear view mirror. When putting the gearbox in reverse the mirror had to adjust him so i can see the ground next to my car. Sometimes this works but in most cases the mirror moves but not onto the position i have programmed. I'm the second customer that drives a superb with this problem they say at the dealer. The first customer his car still has the problem and they don't know the cause either. I cannot believe that i'm the onlyone with these troubles. I would love to see that all the superb II drivers ons this forum would test these problems and give me some feedback. Does u'r columbus also cuts of the speakers at a volume of 60 to 70 procent. I know that is loud but the dealer says that it should not cut of and is mailfunctioning.

Already thanks. Since i'm dutch speaking i apologise for my bad Englisch.

Sincerely,

Peter

Whilst I agree this is possibly a problem, could it also be a safety cut out for your ears/hearing.

I know for sure if my stereo was playing at 60% or above I'd have to step out the car or be deaf in minutes.

No, its not intended to be that way the dealer says. The cutting off is also very random. It are mainly the left side speakers of the car that cut off. I know that it is loud. But when for example a movie is playing, soms scenes are very quiet and i turn the volume up. When a louder scene passes the sound starts to fail. It happens also on radio en HDD function.

Re: Dipping passenger mirror for reversing? You need to set the position where you want it to dip to.

First off, set the mirror to where you want it for normal driving.

Put the mirror button to 0.

Make sure the car is in neutral.

Press memory for 1 second

Hold the memory number that you want to store for 3 seconds.

The dash will 'bong' to tell you the position is stored.

Now,

engage reverse gear,

select L on the mirror switch

adjust the mirror for reversing .

press memory for 1 second

press the same memory number as before until you here the bong.

Now you have stored 2 positions for the mirror. One for normal driving one for reverse.

As has been said, the reverse position will only activate if the switch is left on L.

The mirror returns to the normal position after you drive away over about 10mph.

Tip. If you hold the lock button on your key , the mirrors fold in.

That is what i did. Because i drive the car with the steering wheel at the other side i have to put the switch in the "R" position. But the problem when putting the gear in reverse is that sometimes the mirror goes to the position i have programmed but mostly the mirror moves himself only horizontally and not vertically.

But thanks for the reply anyway.

Have you tried it with the switch at the "L" position, as described. Sometimes you can apply too much logic ............ Bearing in mind that the bulk of car production is LHD I would have thought it very unlikely that Skoda would manufacture or adapt one side mirror just for the UK/RHD market, particularly as this is an extra function. If you try it and it still doesn't work then it's a problem for your dealer to sort out, so ask him how it should be done first.

You haven't said if you've remembering to set the swith to "R" before selecting reverse to get it to operate.

Hi Chris, manual and dealer say that the switch has to be in the "R" position. This is than also how i tried it. In fact, the switch is always in this position when driving. Its the only way i can check the mirror is working or not and mostly it fails to return to the prgrammed position. At the moment the dealer doesn't know what the cause of these two problems is. The delaer also told me that the manufacturer in Tsechië doesn't seem to even know these problems exsist. (don't know exsist is written good)

I hope that they find the solution quickly.

Sincerely,

Peter
