Aftermarket VRS disks and pads

Featured Replies

My disks and pads will be ready for replacement before long and after a brief search there doesn't seem to be much available for a Mk2 VRS!!

I'm after Ferodo DS2500 pads unless anyone can make a better suggestion so would welcome part no's if they are available for the VRS.

Historically I've used both drilled and grooved discs on my V6 Alfa and was more impressed with the grooved...anyone make these for the VRS at sensible money?

Many thanks

have a look at JKM's website, theres some nice grooved discs on there

I've used Tarox disks and DS pads on other vehicles in the past with excellent results but not sure of their availability for the Octy. EBC Green Stuff pads are also nice abut don't go silly with compounds - standard are plenty good enough unless you do the odd bit of track work or drive like a **** in which case "fast road" are a worthwhile upgrade. Anything harder is awful on the road and you'll probably end up scaring yourself to death when they are cold! Mintex are also excellent pads.

One thing I would say is try and stay away from cross drilled and go for grooved only. The groove deglaze the pads much better than holes and you don't get the cracking that can often happen with cross drilling.

I have to say I'm not wonderfully happy with the feel of the brakes on my new Octy but it might be that they are still very new. If it doesn't improve then I'll be looking at different pads.

EBC make Turbo Grooved Discs (TGDs) and are Grooved and dimpled, this is better then drilled as they can crack around the holes. If you find heavily grooved discs are too noisy then their Ultimax slotted discs are ideal.

I'm not sure what people think of greens on this section. I know they are hated in the Furby section. I would possibly consider Red ceramic or even yellow pads.

If you are looking online don't forget the Mk 5 GTI brakes are the same - Skoda sometimes aren't listed. I have to say the brakes don't get any better - the are probably my most disappointing part of the car. They work, but they don't feel up to the job.

by the way, forgot to mention - when I had my vRS, I went for some DS2500's with standard discs and it makes a world of difference

Cheers fellas, I go for DS2500 pads every time....they are awesome. Just got to pick the disks. Have used EBC before with no complaints. Does anyone make any that don't go rust and look sh1te??

Folks, my standard vRS brakes start to judder when they get worked hard, they are fine under normal use though.

I guess my issue is discs, so just uprating the pads to say DS2500s wouldn't make any difference, or would the better quality pads stop the discs from over heading and juddering?

I've seen on another thread that Brembo discs with OEM pads are good.

Can anyone comment on value against stopping power between Brembo discs + OEM pads Vs OEM discs and DS2500 pads?
