Mods/Upgrades For My VRS (Octavia mk1)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I brought my VRS about a month ago , and now i'm used to the power and the car so i'm thinking about doing some mods/upgrades to it.

What should i do and why?

Thinking along the lines of remap, air filter , etc.

Cheers

Jay

Did you buy it completely standard?

The most sensible () route for modifications is to do the braking and suspension first, then the remap and other power mods (exhaust, cold air intake etc.)

You also need to ask yourself how far you are going to go with it, if you are eventually going to go big turbo then some of the mods you do now will be redundant at that point.

Mmmm... deep-fried kitty :D

chicken_eyebrow - Yea mate brought it standard bar a dump valve (vent to atmos)but that has now been taken off and replaced with the standard one.

Not sure about the big turbo route as i don't wanna spend silly money on it just want it to be abit faster (210-250bhp would be make me more than happy)

What would i need to do to get the above bhp output?

Use the search button mate! People ask this stuff every week.

Hence the all the smoldering corpses of cats.........

Remap stage 1 will be about 205 - 210 hp. Worth changing DV if doing this. Induction kits offer very little extra power in my opinnion but they do sound nice!

Get some weitecs as they are cheap and meant to be very good.

I've been steadily adding bits to mine in preparation for a custom remap. So far, I have added:

Engine:

Carbonio CAI

Forge 007p recirc valve

Blueflame Cat back exhaust

Silicone intake pipes

FMIC

N75J valve

Oil catch can (wont help power wise, but helps engine run cleaner)

Handling:

AP coilovers

Polybushes all round inc dogbone mount

Adjustable rear arb

Front S3 upper strut brace

Grooved braked discs

Tarox rallye brake pads

With all that lot, car is running 190bhp and 195ftlb of torque and t's still on the standard map. Just need to add a downpipe and sports cat and a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator and then I can get a stage 2 remap :D Proberbly find I'll need to uprate the clutch sometime aswel to handle the extra torque

Money wise, that little lot has cost me around £2500

It does run nice though

Hope this helps

Click on the link in my signature, add up the cost and don't do it.

Brakes and suspension should "ALWAYS" be done before a remap etc, and sorry, but you will never see a true reliable 250bhp out of just a remap and filter.

mods i would do first

suspension . brakes and diff

with these you will be faster than most on here with just remaps as you can go around corners fast they cant.

then go for remap after that but the top 3 first

its all well and good having 210bhp but without the 3 above you cant use it properly:thumbup:

I wonder who kept on at you to get all three done, now let me think???????????

I've now got used to my car with the standard map and can't wait for the remap. I would always start with a cheap but good stage 1 remap then add the bits before finally getting the custom map. You would be wasting precious driving time on a standard map whilst waiting for the cash to add the extras when a remap would bring you soooo much joy straight away.

But Iam an impatient git :rotz:.

I agree mate

Don't deny yourself the pleasure that costs from as little as £200 for a generic map (not getting into the whole who's better than who etc)

It makes the VRS what it should have been out of the box.

Yes do the brakes & suspension but if you drive it sensibly you can still have a fun car to drive and which handles reasonably well while you put funds together.

It's not always about what you've got... I can corner as well as the next man and better than some, Clive has been with me and seen what cornering can be like :D

I am starting to look at doing my suspension now but only as I have driven Clive's motor and cannot believe how sweet the handling can be in one of these.

Get the re-map, enjoy the extra power.

Then do the brakes and suspension if you haven't spent all your money on more fuel!

you could change some of those plastic couplers that the octy has for coolant hoses. i just dont understand why they found a good idea to make those pieces out of plastic!!!! what would be next... make them out of wax so they break the minute you start the car!!!! . i have changed the one that goes to the heater once, the one that just before the radiator twice, the little T couplers like 3 times. i went to a industrial hardware store and got some bronze T's to have something less to worry about.

hey ther i was just wondering if you no how to put an iduction kit on and have you got any pics many thanks callum
