Fed up With Firefox

Featured Replies

After years of being a Firefox fanboy, I've finally got fed up of it.

It's become bloated and unworkable. It crashes all the time and has to be reloaded for every page. It's even worse than IE and I never thought I'd say that.

I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and it's just terrible. I for one have defected to Google Chrome and so far, very bloody good.

Adieu Mr Fireyfox.

Strange - I've recently gone the other way. I've always used Internet Explorer and was getting seriously pissed off at how slowly the pages were loading, so downloaded both alternatives you mention, Firefox and Google Chrome.

I've used Firefox since and it's been no problem whatsoever - loads much quicker than IE - will be sticking with it until I notice any deterioration.

I've noticed FF has been crashing alot more lately, and forever 'not responding'.

It totally gives up if i try to check Yahoo mail in classic view (i actually prefer the older layout), so i only check emails on the ipod now as its easier.

Sounds more like an add-in compatability issue IMO. Some dont like others

What are you running?

I don't know how to check TBH, I know I've added quite a few add ons over time. Could you oblige?

Oh, I think I've done it...

IE view is on 1.44 so I'd update that and check everything else.

Nothing else seems to be a known conflict. I'd disable everything, and enable one at a time.

If you're having problems with FF and have been running it for many years without cleaning it out, then it might be worth deleting the profile and starting from scratch.

As said above add-ins and other plug-ins can make a right royal mess of things.

As Cheezemonkhai says, try a new profile.

I've noticed a lot of random slow-downs in firefox lately, between clicking / hitting enter and starting to retrieve the object. It started with an update a couple of months ago.

I now use Chrome as my main browser, using privoxy to emulate the AdBlock Plus functionality I had in Firefox.

That's exactly what I would have done

It means he gets aaaaallll the laydeeeez...

:P Only joking...

too right :D

Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest versions, and see to that plug-ins/add-ons are updated and compatible is probably a wise first step.

Not much for plugins/add-ons myself and keep them at a minimum.

A pleasantly simple gecko-based browser for windows is k-meleon
