Featured Replies

Im not going mental and even have a pic to prove it.

Went and filled up at my local shell earlier and saw that V-Power is now 99 Octane instead of 98

So coupled with my R8 Oil cap im now running 600bhp & 750lb/ft :D:D:D

................ it's a bugger that I drive Diesel now though :o

I bet its nearer the £2.70 a litre mark now .

V power has been 99 octane for ages, picked up a leaflet from a shell garage months ago and it detailed it in there.

V-Power has always been 99, whereas Optimax was 97. At least in every Shell I've ever been to!

I used to run my old Fiat Stilo on vpower and it was always 99 ron. That was 2006 which was roughly when it changed to vpower

The world of forums, always full of misinformation.

V-Power has always been 99RON in the UK,

Optimax was 98RON.

Hmm i thought V-Power used to be 98RON  Oh well i thought i'd posted up some new info  i'll go back to my hole now :D

I know in Germany it was 100RON which i used to use and tbh i dont feel any difference with UK V-Power and German V-Power. Which is why i don't think BP102 will have that much of an effect but i might try it when i got a spare £150 for a tank  :D

Carl:thumbup:

Just filled up with Optimax today @ 112.5ppl. It's a joke when normal fuel is down to 101.9 in the supermarkets round here.

Bloody hell it was 109.9 for the V-Power

Where you on a Motorway :D

It's more than that in Cardiff, hence why I use tescos super @ £1.10 pl.

Feckers the lot of them

Its 112p down this way. :(

Saying that it's 117 at my nearest one in Folkestone   but it is a services on the M20 and i don't trust the Tesco 99

The one i used for V-Power today was in Cheshire in case your wondering

Carl:thumbup:

I paid 115.9 for V-Power local to me on Monday. Crazy prices and I actually told the guy behind the counter what I thought.. normal unleaded was 101.9 :(

The Joys of Diesel Economy :P

Saying that the V-Power diesel with a double dose of millers dsp4 used to make the car go nuts when it was running a remap.

mmm, Im sure I read on a leaflet for the V Power Club card that it was 98ron, if its always been 99 then why all of a sudden have they started advertisin it as 99????

I use Tesco 99 as the sainsburys round the corner has been closed, think ill be goin back in there next week as they have opened again.

It has always been 99, for definite.

Well this link Clarifies it :)

Shell V Power

It's dated 30 Aug 2006 so i think we were all under false impressions apart from Ben :)

Carl:thumbup:

I don't get it..:o Can someone point me to a thread that accurately describes why a higher octaney thing is better? :o I just thought unleaded was unleaded and the 99thing was a gimmic by the oil companies.:o

Sounds like I shouldn't even be diving a car, let alone a performance car!:rotz:

Higher the Octane the Bigger the bang for the same quantity of fuel. (in laymans terms)

With V-Power your supposed to get a bit more performance and more miles to the tank

Carl:thumbup:

Higher performance cars like Evo's need Super Unleaded as standard to avoid pinking/detonation.

My mate use to have a Aprilla RS50 with a 80cc engine in it, with the head skimmed down and tuned hard, he had to run it on V-Power to avoid pinking/detonation.

Most "GTI-level" cars will run better and get better MPG (at least equal to the higher spend) running on high octane fuel.

i use tescos... tends to be more consistant than v-power

ran bp ultimate once and the car defo didnt like it!

I run either V-Power or Tesco 99. Probably more V-Power than anything, as I can never be sure the local Tesco will have any 99 - queue for ages then to find a tiny 'out of service' tag on the pump - winner
