Rear Electric Windows

Featured Replies

Just a note, the rear windows are Electric on the Elegance so why haven't they put this on the vRS and how much do you all think it would cost you get them put in?

Chris.

I don't know if the retrofit them, but even if they did it would cost alot, and they arn't really that useful to be honest.

The Octavia vRS lacks some Elegance options too but has others the Elegance doesn't, and I guess the Fabia vRS is the same. It's all about pricing the product for the market.

Interestingly, the fabia vRS, or rather Fabia RS as it's known on the continent does come with rear leccy windows. So RS-style door cards have been designed for leccy windows, so it must be possible.

I haven't taken the read door cards off though and so don't know if the wiring is in place for the buttons / motor. In other words, I don't know if the wiring loom is different for the same model of car when it goes to different countries. Any ideas Denis?

Edit, I think the wiring loom may be different because the door buttons on driver's side would have two rows of two like on the octy / fabia elegance. I don't think the connector would be the same because there could be a need for more wires to control the rear windows.

There are different wiring harnesses listed for the rear doors depending on whether the car has central locking or not, or central locking plus electric windows or not. There are even more variations for the front door harnesses to cater for heated rear view mirrors too and door warning lights. Rear window regulator motors are

The elegance had rear electric windows, but this was dropped a couple of years ago, not sure why?

Wonder if a company would retro fit them or not, i'll have a look on the t'internet.

Probably a lot of hassle to fit yourself, but potentially one of the distributors may be able to fit them for you, but here's a link I found for a company which retro fit rear electric windows & do a range of buttons to make it fit in with the rest of the car.

Worth a look?

I must say, having had my car for 18 months, I have only used my rears a couple of times. I usually wind down the rears by mistake anyway so may be they are not worth it? Personal choice I suppose. Not sure I would miss them if they wern't there!

I find rear leccy windows to be quiet an advantage when driving with the A/C off and the front window open. With the front only open you get quiet a lot of air in the face because the air in the car has nowhere to go. Open the rear window by 1/2" and suddenly it all goes quiet because air enters the front and leaves through the rear. My old merc lacked rear leccy windows and I found it a pain to keep reaching back for the window winder to drop the window a fraction.

Changing the rear windows for electric items would cost alot of coin im sure.

All of the electric windows are controlled through a central control unit which communicates to each seperate door control unit that is built into the motor. These call communicate via can bus wiring. None of this is present in the back doors if you have manual rear windows.

Yes the elegance no longer has leccy windows. They were dropped for MY 2002 however my car managed to scrape it an get them on suggesting that it is possible, however possible at the factory is one thing, possible retro-fitting is another

Watcha mean  doesn't all vRS's have rear lecy windows like what mine do:cool:

I presumed that no elecy rear window in Furby coz you dont usually have a car full of people, and these cars are sold for driving pleasure so rear passengers are a luxury / hinderance to performance, ( delete appropriate ).

I think all you Vrs owners have been had!

Even my 1.6 GLX (1999) has rear electrics! Add an alarm with remote and they all close by themselves. Fools people everytime when they see it work. Wouldn't be without them.

Wouldnt be without rear electric windows? I hardly even use the front electric windows let alone be botherd about the back...

I'll lend you my kids. How the motors have lasted so long is a mystery....

Rear leccy windows where an option for the Fabis vRS. I didn't need them as apart from SWMBO and myself we rarely have anyone else in the car.
