£11,000 !!! ...for a "minor" bump!!! :Yikes:

:jawbig:

That's nearly two cars' worth

thats a lot for a bump tbh do u reckon they wanted to teach him a lesson lol so he will be more careful next time

"Pedestrian safety"...

Why are pedestrians in the road anyway?

Ah....

B*stards!

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

thats just f**king stupid

Anyone who can afford a £50k car will be earning at least double that. If he didn't claim through insurance then at least he can afford the repair. Any performance car isn't going to be 'cheap' to repair when things go wrong unfortunately. But if you wanted a car that was economical to run, you wouldn't buy a GTR or that type of vehicle anyway.

??? I have a £20k (well, £19,990) car and don't earn double that.

Love the pedestrian safety feature, hilarious!

I can't agree with that at all. If it were a £120,000 car maybe, but a £60k car isn't actually that much money these days especially in the times of contract hire and PCP etc.

I thought you'd had a pay rise.

I read the GTR service charges/consumable items somewhere and they were enough to make your teeth fall out. You definitely get the feeling its running costs are a league ahead of its price.

But the guy is right, if basic repairs are that much then their insurance will rocket (like fabias and roofs )

Still not on £40k though! :(

Did anyone else read about the Gearbox that went bang and not covered because they used launch control

Could have brought a new Micra for that

Still, brother-in-law saw someone roll and undoubtably write off their new 59 Focus RS (picked up the day before) and stack it at Silverstone.

If anyone's found this online, do share. He said the car was "proper fcked"

F00k, hope they had insurance that covered it or a lot of cash to buy another.

Nope.

And he was warned/advised to reel it in as well.

Stacked it on Copse FFS.

Yikes!

Surely everyone who has been around or seen a race there knows to take it easy on that corner. Seen a few cars stack it there, even F3.

What gets me even more is that I'm assuming he wasn't familiar with the car and it's abilities or lack of, this early on, so what was he doing giving it a lot on a track.

Still, at least he is ok, and I'm thinking he won't do the same again.

It takes all sorts I suppose...

Thought the car would sort itself out, mask the mistake etc etc

Found out the hard way??

Ouch!

must say im not suprised... i had a ding dong with one on sat morning and not only did i hand him his ****. when going through some sweeping corners it was all over the place very unstable platform...

this was on a private road testing;)

You can't just say "well the car costs a lot" and makes up a ridiculous price for repairs.

A superb costs over £20. If you nudged a car in a queue of traffic and dented the bumper you wouldn't expect to get a repair bill for £4000.

Focus or GTR?

The focus is an incredibly well handling platform, but I get the feeling the RS might be a bit too much power through just the front wheels even with the clever differential.

It's ended up being pretty heavy too, which doesn't help in the dynamics department...
