  • He is an old man and need mollycoddling. If Volvo did F1 cars……..

  • That’s why he won the recent Karting event that Massa finished 3rd in and made the finals of the RoC having showed Vettle who was the daddy when raced head to head with him.

  • Same equipment, same tracks and Schuey still showed he is still the best pound for pound driver from the F1 world……….again. Mansell managed to win the F1 Championship as an elder statesman, so th

I personally don’t think Schumey will have the speed he used to have, at least not over a race distance, but I think he will still be up their with the front runners. His guile and intelligent racing might give him an edge with the new formulae next season (full tanks for race distance for example) and although it is easy to make cheap jokes about his earlier indiscretions we should remember that there are a few other people on the grid who have behaved less than impeccably.

I hope those peeps that said he wouldn’t come back, or didn’t want him to come back will enjoy his racing anyway.

I personally think he's an arrogant ****, but I cannot deny that he does have superb talent!

I think we can add Hamilton to that description too :(

Nice to see Kovalinon (sp) and Lotus getting together. I would love to see Lotus racing at the front again.

Well, that's 2 of us hope Schumi gets a competitive car. As for the anti-Schumi snipers, I was just re-reading the official Williams history of the 1995 season, and "your Damon" hit Schumi 3 times by going for gaps that weren't going to be there when he arrived that year.

For me it isn’t just seeing the ‘Master’ racing again, but seeing if a middle aged man can still hack it. Sports people are considered to be past it so early in their careers these days that it’s great to see Schumey, Lance Armstrong and to a lesser extent Giggsy still performing at the forefront of their Sport. It gives hope to all us mature women and men.

I hope those doubters who posted earlier will believe us now. Mind you, how good will he still be? I can’t wait to find outemoticon-0100-smile.gif

Yes, it's going to interesting. I think he has better competition now than when he was racing before but I expect that Mercedes will have built on Brawn's successful 2009 car.

It could be a facinating season next year.

I also hear that they're painting double yellow lines on the bends in Monaco.

Bernie must be licking his lips at the prospect of all those advanced ticket sales that this news will generate :p

Actually this is pretty much a win-win situation all round:

Spectator interest will rise and hence the tracks will generate greater revenues (so they can pay Bernie) and tv rights holders (Bernie again?) will get higher advertising revenues.

Mercedes gets a very marketable driver and will find it easier to attract sponsorship.

Presumably Schumie will be on more than minimum wage.

The fans get to see either their favourite driver win some more races or get to see their most loathsome driver get beaten by someone else.

Can't see a downside, with everyones interests catered for.

Well Silverstone folk must be happy. Ticket sales I hear are doing well, with 1/2 sold already?

your ****ting me, we are planning this as a works weekend away, not back @work till the 3rd jan, so we'll have to book this now. or we could go to monaco......

I am just glad I don’t have to eat my humble pie.

One slice or two emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif (I have one put aside for Postman Pat :D )

Hold mine until he's pulled in the results. I dont think he'll be as good as some do.

Remember he's be Ferrari'd for many many years, and been retired for some time. My moneys still on Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Jenson, Massa etc handing him his bumper on a plate.

I was referring to the fact you didn’t’ think he was going to come back. emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

I don’t expect him to win the championship, but I do think he will be in the mix.

i think if Merc can deliver him a capable car then i think Shuey will be well in the mix...... I'm not gonna be putting too much money on him taking the title, but if the car is good i'm sure he could well do it. If he finishes anywhere in the top 4 slots of the DC, then i think he will have done a sterling job..... I hope he can pull it out the bag though! I still believe he'll manage to bag one more championship though before he retires again.

Depends on how many he can push off the track or park in front of on their qualifying laps :giggle:

He’s just had a short test in a GP2 car apparently, seems to be going well too.

Well it looks like the nay sayers might have to really start to diet (that humble pie doesn't eat itself :D ) as Schumy is not only back in F1 but has just pipped his team mate in the first practice session fo the year!!

Admittedly we don’t know fuel loads and the like, but the twitter reports from the press seem to think he looks pretty quick :) Ferrari are looking very fast however.

Wow, looking at the pictures of the new cars today. I can safely say there are some seriously ugly cars this year. The Mercedes is hideous with it’s broken nose look!!!
