Door leak covered under warranty....

Featured Replies

well you would have thought a skoda approved warranty would have replaced a rubber seal around the door to stop water leaking in but apparently not. Thanks Skoda

when i complained to my dealer about a head light with mistin in it, and also the interior of my car doing the same, he said the skoda used approved warrenty didnt cover misting, it would cover actual water running inside the glass

If it is the rear door that is leaking, then it is normally the bit of metal behind the door card (door carrier) not the rubber seal and is a common problem with Fabias. You should be able to get it done under the Skoda warranty (I did when mine leaked and was under warranty).

its the bottom of the rear door, so when you open the door there is water on the rubber seal. is this covered?

I get the feeling that's a leaking door carrier and not the rubber seal if you have a wet seal at the bottom.

Very common and the dealer will have a Technical Service BUlliten (TSB) about it.

If they won't fix it you can DIY with the correct sealant.

I had this exact problem 2 weeks ago, i had only had the car one week (second hand from skoda) I just called them up told them the problem, they booked me in and fixed it! re did both rear door seals and since i have not had a problem!

and yes they did all this work for free! under the used car approved warranty.

Regards - Dave

As mentioned above, you should get the rear door carrier repair done under warranty. If the garage still refuses you can DIY it using this guide: Fabia-vrs.com - Door Carrier Repair/

quick update... just checked the door then and its definatly the door card, i rang skoda approved warranty services and they said the seals were not covered against water ingress and put a note on the system, this wont affect anythng when i take it to skoda will it? thanks Glenn

Mine was leaking but not to the extent where the carpets were wet. The bottom of the rear door cover was damp though. All 4 doors sealed under warranty last Friday.

noticed this with my MY07 vrs the other day, have had my door cards trimmed by seat surgeons, would this affect my warrenty? thought about doing it myself, we use butyl tape where i work (BMW) to seal foam door membranes, would this work on my fabia?

cheers tim

I suspect that the Skoda used car warranty on cars over 3 years old is an add on from a warranty company. This will not be as comprehensive as a manufacturers new car warranty, hence the discrepencies in who has what fixed under warranty.

When removing the panels the carrier plate is not touched, so in my view it will be warrantable under the new car warranty. If the tape is that very sticky black putty like stuff on a roll, then it should do the job.

You could try another approach in that the door carrier seal is an integral part of the carrier and is not available separately. The carrier is there to carry the door components, provide a location for the trim to fix to and seal from water ingress. It as a unit has failed in one of its functions could then be warrantable. Depending on how long you have had the car then the garage who sold it to you could be liable to fix it under the Sales Of Goods Act.

Got mine fixed (I hope!) under warranty yesterday. However, that's the original manufacturers warranty.
