nankang tyres

Featured Replies

Hey guys,I have Nankang NS-2 tyres on my 2002 Skoda Octavia 1.8T L&K, I am very happy with them. Size are 205/55/16. They have more than a year on my car and look like new.I got them new U$50.oo each one. For common drive to go to office and home they are OK. On dry surface they are very good, On wet also ok but at hi speed they aqua planing. The tyres that comes factory with the car was Pirelli P6000 and they also aqua planing. Does Pirelli P6000 cost here U$125.oo each one.So when is raining I just go slower. Just a few months ago under raining on the hi way a BMW 3 series pass me very fast and later more ahead I saw the car crashed to a sidewall............. So under raining I just go slow. The best tyres I have used at hi speed when was raining was Good Year Arriba models. They was designed for rain. I remeber they have like a big chanel on the center of the tire to move the water faster. I am pretty sure many tire brands designed for rain have this same type of chanel in the center.Isaac

Not sure what it's like in Panama, but we've got a lot of "greasy" roads, where ditchfinders fail!

Very wet I would imagine. They need oodles of water to fill up the Canals and the man made Gatun lake to keep the locks working

I failed Geogrpahy.

A quick Google search reveals that it's in Central America. Which is 3,000 miles south of the real America. Acording to Team America? :D

I had a full set of Nankangs on my 18" RS4 wheels.

The front lasted less than a year at around 10 months

The grip in the dry is actually very good.

The grip in the wet is bordering on dangerous

The confidence feel of the tyres is poor

Will not touch these on my car again.

replaced with Kumho KU31's which are a much better overall tyre in both dry / wet and feel

I'll echo what Bowders has said, actually ok in the dry but in the wet you're better off walking!

Our Lupo has Nankangs on the front- fitted by the garage we bought it from- I'd have rather they gave us the cost of the Nankangs off, and we could have fitted something decent. They're OK-ish in the dry, awful in the wet. The 1.4 16V is hardly a torque monster, but I still had wheelspin in third on a greasy island the other night.

I can confirm many of the dry vs wet findings listed here. I have NS2s at 205/50/17 on my Octy and have found them to be superb in the dry and very hard wearing but absolutely lethal in the wet. If a soggy road is even slightly bumpy, it'll spin up the front tyres in a straight line through the first three gears. They've left me bogging down entering roundabouts a few times, and I find I have to go round them slower in heavy rain than I do in my other half's K11 Micra! I'll be going for Kumhos KU31s or Hankook Evos next time, and definitely not touching Nankangs again.

I've found some of the better nankangs to be ok, but i'd rather pay the bit extra and go for something that bit better. Im so glad i went for Vredstein Ultra Sessanta's at £100 a tyre for a 225/40/R18 there not cheap. But i was actually glad it rained today rather than it being icy. As they stick really well in the wet!
