Nothing to worry about just that Diesel engines have higher thermal efficiency less energy is lost as heat and therefore the car takes a bit longer to warm up :yes:

I recommend making yourself a cup of tea, maybe some hot bacon sarnies then one of these to rest them on while driving:

Not in my experience. My Fabia vRS warms up a lot faster than previous 2.0L petrol.

I'm probably about to look like a fool...

But doesn't the vRS have an auxiliary heater? I thought this produced hot air while the diesel heated up.. or is it something else completely?

If I'm right then couldn't this have potentially developed a fault causing the hot air to take ages to come while the diesel heats up?

Mine warms up faster than my old focus petrol.

On a normal day, it takes only 2 to 3 miles and the needle is moving up.

I heard that the 1.9 tdi engine was actually the most thermodynamically efficient engine available a few years back?

I'm in the process of retro-fitting the metal water housing and glow plugs to the side of the head which heats the water before entering the water matrix.

They come standard on leons, golfs etc, why dont the fabias get the joy of hot heaters in cold weather? lol

A while back I fitted a Kenlowe Hotstart to SWMBO's Fabia which pre heats the engine & gives instant heat from the heater & with the heated seats as well, it's sheer luxury on cold & frosty mornings !
