That was a new Superb Estate...... emoticon-0106-crying.gif (and a couple of Yetis)

Not good :(

I know it's not clear but the Snow-monsters do look pretty intact considering they have been thrown of a lorry. Sad end though.

Edit

Makes me wonder where the photo was taken maybe a factory transporter as the appear to be mainly Yeti's and a Superb.

These may be the delayed cars folks are waiting on. Quick trip to the bodyshop, PDI then sold to the unsuspecting original customer. "Sorry sir your car will be delayed three weeks it's still sitting in a compound awaiting transit"

You will be suprised how many brand new cars are damaged and repaired before being delivered to their first unsuspecting owner. All marques are affected, and its suprisingly common.

Been having another look at the photo; there's at least 5 Yeti's involved, one still on the trailer has steel wheels, far distance appears to have the panoramic roof and I think the red one is a 1.2TSI (can only see a Yeti badge).

Edit

Also forgot to mention that the Yeti's are missing the white plastic film normally applied over various body panels for shipping.

I,ve seen figures of 1 in 5 quoted in the motoring press.

I just love your attention to detail ! How are your rattles?

Hi Yonderend,

How are things with you in Scotland? hope your monster is running as well as ever. Really enjoy driving mine but have to remember to give our Corsa a run to work as well, if nothing else just to balance out the mileage a bit.

Some of the rattles are still there after 2 visits to the dealer so far but very intermittent and predominately focused around the central vent/dash top storage box area. Trying to ignore them by using the radio & CD, which I normally don't bother with.

Have toyed with the idea of removing the storage box myself just to see if it's the culprit, as it appears to be held in place with TORX screws. Although I am also minded of the old adage; leave well alone you might make things worse.

TP

Hi Plumber,

I wouldn't start the DIY on the rattles.....your quoted adage is spot on. My snow monster is going well....no issues at all and as the weather gets more and more wintery up here, I am really enjoying the surefootedness of the YETI. It's good to see more and more people are getting hold of their Yetis but I having done almost 2000 miles in mine, I have yet to see one on the road. All the best for Christmas.

Thanks Yonderend,

Will take the advice, by the way what tyres are you running? I ask as posted in another thread, my first real outing in frosty conditions didn't fill me with confidence in the Goodyear Excellence fitted to mine. Although in the dry and wet they are as the name suggests excellent.

1400 miles so far and likewise not see another Yeti on the road, although bizarrely I have seen a number of Tiguan's which considering the rural nature round these parts has also been a rarity.

Just put half a litre of oil in today, not unsurprising for a new engine.

Best Wishes,

TP

I'd agree with that statistic from my days at VW.

Hi Plumber,

I am running Dunlop SP Sport 01's. So far so good. Did you put more oil in because of a warning light? I must confess, I haven't checked my oil level.

Thanks Yonderend,

both on asymmetrical summer sport saloon tyres then, only difference being the brand.

With regard to the oil I tend to check this along with, coolant, tyres, screen-wash etc. fairly regularly, even more so with a new vehicle until I have an idea of it's consumption pattern.

Old habits die hard after doing the same thing with aeroplanes on a daily basis for more years then I care to remember, that is until I went back to my old trade craft.

Coming up on 1000 and still no real problems with my S 4X4 110PS.

Got 43.9 mpg in last 400 miles (mainly town and rural driving).

As you say Yonderend, things are getting wintry in Scotland but still very sure-footed.

And I still have not seen another one on the road!

P.S. Unlike u Plumber, I check my car much less often than my Kitfox!

Hi finebone,

the RAF always likes things in at least triplicate:- AF followed by a BF Then another AF with maybe the odd Turnround thrown in the middle. Not sure what civvies do, something every seven days rings a bell. Even when I worked on a private Spit we still followed a basic RAF servicing pattern.

For the uninitiated:

AF = After Flight servicing

BF = Before Flight servicing

Turnround = in-between sorties servicing

Pleased to here all is well with your Monster, you will be running on 16" 215/60/16 wheels, which I think would be better than the 17". Noticed that the European spec's tend to use the 16" much more than we do.

Still wish SUK had left well alone in terms of wheels when they up spec'd the Ambition to create the SE (note: build sticker on mine actually states Ambition).

Best Wishes

TP

There is a far better choice of tyre in 16" sizes, including All Terrain types. They are also cheaper!!
