Now im getting a bit worried about mine using 1 litre every 5,000 miles. I have no probs and no leaks, seems there are a lot of differences when it comes to oil use

I have a 2002 Octavia L&K 1.8T with 49,000 kms using Castrol Syntec 0W-30

YES! only 49,000 kms and never used a drop of oil.

I use 900ml of oil in a year in my cupra R i think that is pretty good?!

This may be tempting fate but.....

2001 4x4 (that's a 1.8 turbo in case you're interested) with 108,000 miles and NO oil needed/added between services (to date!)

Hope the new Scout, due in a few weeks, will be the same!!!

Just as a note too this topic

-2 this morning no frost though, so I assume no moisture in the air, no steam from exhaust either
