It's just over £100 and is money well spent.

It replaces the display between the speedo/tacho dials and allows you to change things such as coming home/leaving home lighting and well as displaying navigation (if you have a MFD3), audio etc.

There's an awful lot more it can do but most people who've seen it and haven't got it, wish they'd seen it sooner & specced it before buying the car!

That's why my last vRS didn't have it but this one does....don't make the same mistake as I did.

You have to keep in mind that there's a big difference between the pre-FL and the FL as to the non-maxidot version! IMHO there's not that much difference any longer between the non-maxidot and the maxidot any longer. Is the difference worth the extra-pounds?

Yes, it's still worth it, but it's true, the new non-maxidot display does look a lot better, cosmetically, than the old non-maxidot display.

It's the functionality that's the biggest appeal for me.

A lot of that fuctionality is only available if you have ticked some of the other option boxes, for example, Auto Lights.

My car only has Maxidot and the only significant thing that it lets me do if configure the door closing. There are some other tweaks that you can carry out, and you can have the audio display in front of you rather that the trip computer functions.

You also get the nice graphic for the doors being opened, and I believe various warning displays, but I have not seen any so far (prabably a good thing!).

You just have to keep rubbing it in don't you Nick :'(

I thought Ben could pimp you out now?

EDIT - REALLY could have phrased that better! :)

After posting this I ran out of washer fluid. Should I have got a warning on the Maxidot display?

Only if you have headlight washers. (and the bigger fluid bottle)

Cheers.

Another thing Maxidot doesn't do for me!

How would you access the extra settings in maxidot as mine just seems to select time to adjust when i use the trip lever??

Should one of your lights fail, with maxidot you'll get a specific warning as to which bulb has blown (ie Front Right Dipped Beam) and not the generic blown bulb LED warning light as per non-maxidot units.

Thanks for that but i have heard there is a menu that lets you adjust settings so that you can make changes like have your mirror point to the floor when in reverse or you can change the imperial settings on the display etc instead of using vagcom its this I was wanting to know how to access ?? as when I use the trip lever it just selects the time to adjust or resets the trip

Your car must have that facility available for maxidot to be able to adjust it - ie mirrors pointing to the floor is only with electric memory seats I believe.

Both mirrors can be set to be either manually adjusted in unison (or singularly) via maxidot however.

The comfort menu was extended with more features from modellyear 07 on.

If the car was built before aug/sept 06, all you can do is find someone with VCDS.

Think you've got a bulb that needs changing Sim :giggle:

Bloody maxidot :swear:

Hé Sim my odometer reads about the same as yours (in km emoticon-0136-giggle.gif )

Currently at 132700 emoticon-0105-wink.gif

But I dont have a bulb faillure emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Can you configure the number of flashes when indicating using 'lane change' on the motorway?

I thought that 3 was the default and haven't seen a setting in maxidot for it. VCDS may be able to alter it so wait for replies on that.

Is this what you mean by flashing? I wouldn't have thought motorways weren't the best place to do it though - unless in a coach. :)

I'll take the one on the left.

What was wrong with the one in the middle?

Just found out that' Maxidot' is now standard on the FL vRS.

Good job I didnt order it!!

ORLY? Source?

I'm sceptical just as Wega3k is. :wonder:

All the FL vRS dashes have a full size central display which looks like a maxidot display but that's the only similarity I'm afraid.

I think that only the Greenline and L&K have maxidot as standard.

So, in other words you meant to say, "Shame I didn't order it" as opposed to "Good job I didnt order it!!"
