Strange Octy rear badge!!!!!

Featured Replies

Almost forgot about this as I spotted it Friday afternoon on way home. A silver Octy pulled up in the next lane at a set of traffic lights. It was far enough ahead that I could not read the badge on the back easily, and it looked like 2DV Turbo. Later on I was briefly along side and seen that it was an Elegance trim. Later on when thinking about it I suppose it was actually 20V Turbo. Never seen this badge before. Is it standard or not? Is or was the 1.8T available (in 150 bhp form) in Octys other than vRS and 4x4. I know it was in the pre-facelift pre vRS days, but I thought not in the post face lift days?

Didn't think this was ever used for Octy RSs in the UK. However, the early Leon Cupras (i.e. Y reg with 180 BHP) did not have any Cupra badging and just state "20v Turbo" so maybe this happened in some markets for the Octy as well.

It is certainly possible that a car seen in N.Ireland will have been imported from the Irish freestate.

I've seen these 20V Turbo badges on the Octavia too.

IIRC the 20V Turbo badge was for those with the 1.8T engine but without 4x4. In fact, I think one of my customers' L&K has this badge on the back...

Rob.

Another reason I bought my vRS. I was behind a lovely dark green Octy with cream leather and the the 20V Turbo badge on the back. It was impressive looking back in 2000.Regards David

The one I seen didn't quite look like that.

Well that's one alternative - that's my SLX 2000 variant.

There was red on the badge I seen.

I think the newer ones have red in there somewhere.

I've seen one very recently on an 02 reg car.

a red T i think

seen these a few times in oxford, although most octavia's round here are tdi's, only spotted 2 or 3 vrs's other than at the dealer

The post-facelift FWD 1.8T Elegance has a 20V turbo badge too, but I believe it's the V that is red. Sort of like the Golf V5 and V6, which also has red in there (forgot whether it's the V or the number).

I think i know the vehicle in question ;)

My 2001 MY Octavia has a badge saying "20V turbo" all in black - the V is upper case, and "turbo" is in lower case. I assume this is standard for all "old" Octavias with the 1.8T engine since the 2000 (ish) facelift, unless they are 4x4 or vRS.
