ASR

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Bought myself a 2001 fabia elegance in December. All seems well but i have an ASR button next to the rear window heater button. Now having read up about this if pressed there should be a light on the dials telling me its off or vice versa. Not sure.

Problem is it seems to do nothing. I have tried it on gravel, ice, snow, normal ground to see if it actually kicks in when the wheels begin to spin and nothing? Any ideas???

sounds like a possible wheel sensor fault but this should default to illuminate the ASR button continually in dash, sure the bulb is ok? - some schemers pop out the bulbs on asr/abs faults to allow an MOT pass, probably best to run vag-com and check all faults/labels

its on by default, so if you press the button to turn on the light, you are turning it off.

its not a very good basic system, thats easily caught out on loose/icy surfaces.

ASR is only a very basic traction control, it will only disconnect the engine power from the wheel that is spinning, it does not react like a Lim. slip diff.

There are other forms off traction control fitted across the VAG range, but they are options. The good thing is ASR does not come into play too early like some other car makers version of traction control.

asr is pants, the only good thing about it is you can turn it off

However, you have to turn it off every time you restart the car :(

I think ASR was developed by a dyslexic

i had not to do with it lmao!

My light does not work but you can still turn it on and off . I think its just a lose connection behind the clocks
