The Google Nexus One

Featured Replies

SWMBO's just got Samsungs Galaxy running andriod.

Been playing with it all weeked, and as a nokia user for 14 years, and a windows mobile user (work) it's the first time I've seriously been tempted away from Nokia. Have played with friends and families iphone, and not that impressed. SWMBO's galaxy though has me seriously considering a Nexus when my contracts up for upgrade in March!

I would really really love a Motorola Milestone (Droid in the US).

Only available sim free although Expansys do it with a T-Mobile Combi 30 tarrif for £35 p/m and £49.99 up front. Fantastic bit of kit though.

There seems to be more and more android phones coming out now. It's popularity is growing and starting to see a few people with them now too.

I always have people peeking over if I ever use my phone on the bus. Even the iPhone boys and girls! hehe

Well, apparently sales of the Nexus One havn't been that brilliant.

Interestingly its only just gone on sale, and its already subject to a $100 price reduction Linky

The next "iPhone Killer" bites the dust already eh?

I think HTC own the patent on this? So this helps. Or is it an Apple patent?

Cue more legal mess at the ITC.....

I can't wait for this to officially launch in the UK. I've been avoiding the iPhone (even though I'm a Mac fan boy) and was waiting for the next big thing, while being comfortable with my Nokia e71.

According to reviews, Nexus One seems like the phone to get if you want to use the latest and the greatest and are not interested in the awesome games that are available for the iPhone.

Hoping UK networks dont snub the N1 infavour of the HTC bravo - same insides basically, not as sexy outside.

Still awaiting any response from T-mobile about a UK release.

  • 2 weeks later...

All UK networks are having the desire (formerly Bravo code name) in April.

No further news on the N1 though.....

  • 1 month later...

Just been checking out the HTC Desire on the T-Mobile site.

My current plan runs out at the end of next month so this could well be my next phone.

It is exactly the same as the N1 but without the noise cancelation and the dock connector.

It's either that or I quite fancy a Motorola Milestone.

I fancy a Desire when it comes to Orange, but I am a little worried that it won’t be compatible with my cars Bluetooth system. At least not in a convenient way. :(

Hmmm. I can't answer that one Amanda as I have never paired an android phone to a car bluetooth.

The best thing to do might be to find someone with an android based phone and see what happens!

Just realised that my contract ends on 1st of may so I have another month to wai yet!!!

Phil

My G2 (Hero) works fine with my works Mondeo system just fine.

The Sony X10 also looks nice, but I'm going for the desire.

Now waiting for the Desire to be in-store so I can grab one.

i'm waiting on the X10 coming to o2 then getting a hold of one. didnt think i'd get another Xperia after the X1 which i liked but was too much of a pain to do anything with.

Noooooo! Don't do it!!! Don't go to the darkside.

I gather it takes only abut 2 hours of playing a game of Tetrus to make the iphone turn to the dark side. Still it recharges reasonably quickly :D

There's nothing wrong with the iPhone but if you have one it means you end up as one of "those" people..... lol

Lol.

Couldn't agree more. Although I don't actually like the iPhone and find it clunky/awkward to use!

I am definately an Android phone user 100% now. Seems some other networks are going to be releasing the HTC Desire but not till the middle/end of the month.

If I change my car to the one I am after, I think an iphone is the default easy option for pairing :(

Why Amanda? Are Apple bringing out the iCar?! lol

Yes, but it won’t multi-task. So you can’t turn left and change gear at the same time, for instance (obviously that would be wrong anyway :D)

I've had a Nexus One for just over a week now after i got sick of my iPhone and fancied a change, the phone so far has been faultless and I actually think i wouldn't go back to a iPhone anytime soon. So far i've found the battery last longer than the iPhone, the screen is better, the loading speed of web pages and You Tube is alot quicker, the live wallpapers and the power widgit are very cool. The only downside is the apps store, it's a bit spartan but i mainly use the phone for calls and emails so it doesn't bother me much, however i can see myself getting to the stage were i would kill for a decent game to help kill the time and that it's doesn't seem to support Microsoft Exchange like the iPhone does.

Not sure if it will work with inbuilt bluetooth but my Nexus One seemed fine when i sync it to my Sat Nav.

I might just give up and get an iphone

A phone which works poorly with almost all in-built car kits?
