Fitting of a green panel filter... Help!

Featured Replies

Just got my panel filter this morning, there's some instructions saying about removing the 'centering studs' on the green filter, do these need to be removed to fit it to the octy?

thanks.

Mine dropped straight in without any faffing about :)

As did mine. :)

As did mine :D:D

well I'm having a bit of difficulty fitting mine! I can fit the filter in the air box without any problems, but I cannot close it properly. The lid won't close far enough so that the 4 catches towards the front lock.

Part number is showing as GREP646531 - is that right one?

what am I doing wrong?

I know this wont help but mine fitted fine :D Is the filter center in the box? I found their was some play in mine.

I'll pop over and have a look at it for ya when ive got five mins mate :)

Cheers mate, only if you take me for a spin in your Furby. :D

Yeah the filter is right in the centre and the edges are all lined up. The lip on the filter seems to sit higher than the original one. There's no hope for me tring to fit an IK!

The cover is a bit tricky to put back on, try putting it at an angle and 'wiggling' it about, then use a lump hammer!

Still not fitted it, didn't have chance yesterday to have another go.

the part numbers right looking at yours again so this shouldnt be causing you any problems.

have you disconnected the MAF hose? its not nessasary but it will enable you to take the top of the airbox off easily.

if the filters sitting slightly proud of the rim inside the airbox you might need to trim some of the locating lugs off as it should fit it the same as the OE filter.

i didnt have to on the one i had but you never know. the rubber surround may differ slightly from mould to mould.

P646531 is the correct P/N. The problem lies with the airbox itself. The airbox slants @ an angle and what you may not notice is that there is a catch below that has to fit properly before the 4 screws can sit in properly. Have a close look below to see how the upper half of the airbox with the sensor has two (2) hook like catches that has to sit in properly before the cover can close. Sorry I dun have a pic to describe what I am trying to describe. I've installed 4 to 5 Octys with drop-ins with no probs, just that ctach to look out for.....

I placed mine the other night. The filter is a fraction (1-2mm) to long but does push into place when the screws are tightened.

At least i hope it has, but judging by this thread, i might take another look, this time in the daylight.

It might not be the best fit, but it is cealed completely. I might trim a slither (like that word) of the edge of the filter to make it fir better. ;)

C,

Like I said earlier, there's no need to trim the lugs.....just have a close look at the catch. Once the catch fits nicely, the filter will sit in its groove perfectly......have a second look :D

ok, just tried again!

The lip of the air filter (A) seems to be deeper than the recess (B) so when I closed the lid there's not enough room and you can see the filter edge. The two plastic bits (next to the two screws) are lined up ok.

Just received mine in the post.fitting tommorow so ill let you know how i get on fingers crossed it will go straight in.:D

mine dropped straight in as well so i cant see how your having so much difficulty... i take it putting the OE filter back in sorts things out ?

maybe the rubber surround on yours is slightly bigger than normal (??)

you should be able to fit this without taking the MAF hose off the airbox but to make things easier for yourself it might be worth taking it off first.

Might give that a try

fitting mine tonight(cheers nigel 26)its 2nd hand so should fit

take it got there ok then... like i said i dropped straight in mine so i cant see there being any problems.

Yep mine has gone straight in.Had to take the hose off thou didn,t want to force it too much as there was very little room to take the old one out but no problems.:D

sorted it! I'm so thick! Works best if you put the 4 clips under first! Sounds better, can here the Bosch DV a bit more now.

Anyone else noticed any difference?
