Bad news, guys!

Featured Replies

Sorry to hear about the bump, the damage itself doesnt look that bad looking at those other pictures and seems to be repairable. I guess the sump and the slam panel seem to be whats absorbed the accident, and the most likely reason the airbags have not deployed as it looks like the main crashbar is still intact. The engine should be ok, I remember one brisky meet where on a drive out several cars went over a hump and smashed their sumps at speed leaving oil everywhere. At idle the engine is under very little stress, so things should be fine.

Glad to hear you are fine as well, hopefully the insurance will decide quickly what they are going to do. If they decide to write the car off, I wonder if its worth buying it back to fix and get it back on the road again.

On another note, this cold weather was forcast so why were there no gritters out. The temperature was not that low, and if the road had been gritted the whole thing could have been avoided. Same with this morning, the roads are all like driving on glass. Surely they should have been out yesterday gritting whilst the roads were ok.

engineer coning out tomoz and so is body shop

insurance company's are a pain in the arse lol spoken to so many ****s this morning getting there

watch out for the for sale thread lol

Just seen the thread, and really gutted for you Clive.

Going from when Trev had the shunt in my old one, I think they will try and write it off as there is a lot of work involved with the bodywork alone, well insurers think there is, so take the easy option and declare it a write off.

Also, re the chain for the oil pump/pick up, yes it sits really low in the oil in the sump.

sorry to see your car that way mate, fingers crossed to no engine damage.

Im really sorry to see your car damaged like this, I know its your pride and joy.

Hope you get it resolved and fixed to your satisfaction.

Does the local council have any liability ie untreated roads etc ???.

I know round here there are some massive pot holes now and in our local paper there

are reports of drivers making claims for car damage (alloys / tyres) as a result of hitting the holes.

Peter

Sorry to hear this, Clive. Can't see the pics at work but can understand how you must feel. Have sent you a PM about other stuff. Take care...

I'm sorry to hear about this :(

Any news, noticed your status update as it's been written off ?

guys i have no intention off seliing any parts the car will be repaired. at some point

99% certain it will be totalled but you may be lucky, they will take one look at the sump & want nout to do with it as repairs have to be guaranteed, if you think the engines OK look at a buy back, should be 25% of value, ie you get 75% of the value & the car.

We had similar bump a couple of years ago on an Octy 1 TDi + Airbags, cost 3K to fix using s/hand parts & that included Xenons. Allow something to get it jigged even if it looks Ok, we had chassis ends gone. Also be prepared for a few weeks without a car, I had ours done by a body shop & they sourced 95% of the parts as well

Value when repaired if its a cat D will be 60% of book

If its a CAT C walk away,

Thats the spirt pal ! What did the engineer say today ? good news ?

Probably a good thing your not selling your bits Clive! I promised myself that I'm going to stop spending money on mine so I can save for an impreza (love them), and I might have been eyeing up quite a few bits of your car!

Is there any kind of award for fastest modified car on the forum? Because when you get a replacement I think we might see the quickest modifications in history
