My new Car

Featured Replies

After 3.5 years with my Octy, I have just sold it and purchased a lovely secondhand Superb.

So next saturday the octy is being part exchanged for this little beauty

2008(58) 2.0PD TDi DSG Elegance in rosso brunello.

Watch out for some octy bits for sale.

Looks lovely indeed. DSG too eh! Should be very nice indeed :)

Do you know if VAG have sorted the oil pump issues on the 140PD?

I was going to pick the 140 for my replacement in a couple of years time, but have been put off by the failures, although mine will be an estate so most will probably be the CR engine by then?

The PD140 in my octy has been totally reliable. I believe that the PD engine is due to replaced by the CR this march.

Looks very nice Manny

Very nice indeed, there was one that same colour outside the garage where I picked mine up from yesterday. My father commented on how nice the colour was, and I think it looks much better in the flesh.

As for the DSG, you will love that!

Tidy :)

Love that colour!

Looks like a class motor

Very nice.

Not seen one in that colour before.

The octy has now gone, picked up the superb this morning, whilst it was snowing. I have a couple of factory extras I wasnt expecting, namely front parking sensors and park assist so all looking good so far.

Just one minor issue, its 1.5 inches to long to fit in the garage previously occupied by the octy, so the superb is destined to live outside for the time I have it.

It's a real nice car that one, I had it as a loan car a while back while my TAXI was being fixed, I think iirc I had her maxxed out at 145mph going downhill, although it may only have been 142mph, my memory is failing, she can lift two wheels on a corner if you approach and take it at at least 65mph, and it's good to see the rear end looks as good as new again as I reversed it into a lampost after dropping off some punters in a narrow lane, I hope they've put some new tyres on it as the fronts only had about 1mm left when I gave it back, and I hope that puke smell has gone away as well, some chav barked on the rear of the drivers seat and it dripped down the front I'm afraid, anyway I hope it serves you well :->

Well April ain't far away is it........BIG SMILE.

Nice looking car. How are you finding the DSG in the snow?

Quality motor

I thought it was ok, still getting used to it though. The DSG is very different to a conventional auto.

Drove it to work today, a couple of things still to sort.

Steering wheel is slightly off centre when going straight ahead, so I'll get that adjusted next weekend.

Still struggling to get a good driving position, there is perhaps to much adjustment on the electric seats (seat height, seat base rake angle, lumber in/out/up/down, and backrest angle), I will get there in the end just as I did in the octy.

One thing I have noticed, the audio quality is not as good as my octy. I have had a fiddle with the columbus settings, and have managed to get it to sound a little better by increasing the bass setting and reducing the mid and treble settings quiet considerably. Using the same settings I had in the octy, the sound in the superb is all tinny and has way to much treble.

It also looks like the dealer is going to retail my old car which went in p/ex despite the 92K miles rather than put it through auction.
