Eibach Pro Kit for MK2

Featured Replies

Hey all I am thinking of buying the eibach Pro Kit for my Octavia 1.9 ambiente and i have a set of 18" alloys going on to the car. Has anyone else done this and if so have they had any issues at all with a full car load in the past any images at all???

My car is on 30mm eibach springs with 18" RS4 replica's.

Hey Browyn_37 very nice. Definately something I also looking at. Any more pics (more side on)? Also, what offset are the wheels? Are tyres 225 or 235?

Cheers!

VRSyme, i would like to mention that there hasn't been any catching since i replaced my worn out rear shocks.

Zach,

The wheels are 18x8J with 225/40/R18's on a ET35 offset.

This is the best picture i've got of them side on, but i would like to mention that the boot was loaded up with a full set of 17" wheels and a full tank of fuel and shockers that i think were getting on a bit.

If i get a chance this week, i'll get some more pics of it side on.

Hey mate, sorry I dont have any pics and dont have time to take pics right now! mines is almost identical ride to the black one posted by Browny

however, if its any help, I have 18" VRS rims fited and there are approx 2 fingers (technical!) depth between trhe front tyre and arch, and about 2.25 fingers depth on the back, its a nice ride height actually, I have had the car filled with people and a 350kg load from Ikea in the boot and it was fine!

also it does make the ride a little firmer but not unbearable by any means! however one thing I will say, is that my shocks had about 60k on them when I fitted the springs and they are pretty much all shot now, so if you have that sort of miles you might want to save a little longer and get the full shocks+springs too!

hope that helps!

Cheers for that Darren yeah car is sitting about 66000 so I may save a little longer and go for the Koni fsd and Eibach set up which I believe to be a good combo.

The Koni FSD's are a good piece of kit, but at the price there at i just dont think there worth the extra cash on a low powered car. Im on fresh Bilstein B4 rear shocks and a recent geo setup and Vreds all around, i find the car is more capable of taking bends at speed, but not actually having much power to pull it out of the bend any better with the 105bhp.

Bilstein do the B6 shortened dampers at a cheaper price, but i've decided on keeping the shocks standard with a set of standard B4's on the rear at around 139k which has lifted the backend back up a little. Which does leave it feeling as though its leaning over in bends a little, but thats probably due to there now being some travel on the shocks :giggle:

The original front shocks are still funky dory at 142k.

The ride can be harsh, but its not overly harsh and somewhat refined and relaxed when cruising along on the motorways. Large/Deep potholes tend to be rather uncomfortable though.

The great improvement i found, was that the car felt more stable under extreme braking situations.

For example, a accident had taken place on the M1 leaving everyone diving for there brakes. I hit mine rather harsh, the front end dived and the car felt as though it was squirming.

After fitting the Eibach's the car stays alot more level during braking and cornering.

Hope this helps.

Just went to price up the konis (holy crap they are expensive well for me anyway) so think for the time being it will just be the springs (well thats if i can get the mrs credit card ha ha ha)

I would advise the Eibach's as a wise purchase, but your going to want someone who knows what there doing to do the Geo *Cough* Awesome *Cough* to avoid uneven rear tyre wear.

Hopefully the bolts on the eccentric bushes on the upper and lower arms haven't seized into the collars within the rubber bush, mine did and it was tearing the bushes out trying to turn them. Otherwise your going to have to replace the upper and lower arms and bolts like i did, just to be able to adjust the rear camber. (You have to purchase the arms with the bushes in) And there around £60-£70 each :(

It maybe worthwhile finding out if they are seized in the collars first though, but then again if they did move. It would force your camber out unless you mark them with a line on the arm and the bush so you can put them back roughly again.

If your serious about the shocks though and wanted shorter firmer shocks i would look at the Bilstein B6's.

Otherwise stay with the originals for the time being and replace the shocks as needed, but you will more than likely need the geo resetting after renewing the front shocks.

Jesus all I wanted to do was lower the damn thing now theres geo things to worry about aaaaahhahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Why cant it just be easy like the good old days.

So can someone explain what the geo is is it the geometry ???? and does it really need done even if im only replacing the springs?? also if it needs done anyone know of anywhere in strathclyde or ayrshire for this.

I was going to get my mate to do this job (he is an audi mechanic) but sounds like he may need some help.

Yes it does need doing, when you lower a car it upsets the whole thing. The main one that goes out is camber caused because the springs are shorter, and it needs to be put right again, if you dont then your tyres (especially the rear) will wear excessively.

Ok chaps & ladies I ordered my new eibach lowering springs today (thanks to SWMBO for the early birthday present) what I need to find now is someone to fit them & somewhere to have the geo done anyone know of anyone in the Scotland/strathclyde/ayrshire area????

Believe me the geo makes a hell of a difference mate, the front end use to run wide on mine rather easily.

Now it has been setup its a vast improvement, so long as your not going to extremes it holds the road really well!

I've found that the camber on the front of mine has become slightly out of tolerance, down to lowering the car (which cant be adjusted on standard running gear)

Which can be seen by the tyres wearing maybe 1-1.5mm difference from the inside to the outsides, then again my driving consists of alot of stop starting and i've never had a set wear completely flat across the tread yet, Even on standard springs.

Any news on this? Did you purchase Eibach springs with 18x8J with 225/40/R18's on a ET35 offset?

How did it go if you did?

Don't know anywhere in the west, but I got mine aligned at Pro grip. Think he's now based in Larbert.

Eibach Pro's here

Crikey just noticed this was from 2010!!.

Nice Grizzle, what tires and offset are you running? And do you have any problems on heavy load?

Thanks!

225/40/18 no problem under loads, they are actually a skoda part despite Skoda saying they didnt sell them.

Now have some Bilstein B6 dampers to match the springs.

This is it just under a month of the new dampers fitted

Browny_37 doesn't have that car anymore. I don't think he comes on here now.

Looked nice with the setup he had.

I had eibach pros with koni fsds with oem wheels and 10mm spacers on rear and had no issues. A reasonable setup, much improved over standard (which i found jittery and didnt inspire confidence to throw it around) although I am sure there are better setups available now (that was 2011) for similar money. Much discussed on here.

Had a set of pro kit from Jetta MkII on but front sits 5mm higher
