Up date on paint job!!

Original post..........

Hi

We have a 6 month old met silver furby Vrs that is going to the dealers next week to have a new front bumper as the paint is peeling off, this on top of the front grille that smashed when closing the bonnet (Skoda will not pay for that - reckon it's not a manufactures fault!) so we're over

Just cleaned my car, and can catigorically say that those front wheel 'lips' are black plastic.

Thanks, now going to clean ours complete with silver lips!!! Guess a call to the dealers is in order!!

Hey, providing they have been painted to a good standard it kinda makes yours 'exclusive'

Colour coded water defectors...cool. Go back and get them to do the door handles now!

If only!! On closer inspection the bumper doesn't match the rest of the car and is far lighter :thumbdwn: - so, visit to the dealers who wanted to re-paint! However my feeling was that if they couldn't get it right the first time why did they think it would be any better the second time? So, we're going to have the bumper taken off their brand new silver demo Vrs and hopefully that will match better - I'll be there to watch the swap and God knows what I'll do if that doesn't match!!

Feeling just a little negative towards the Vrs at the moment, what with the bumper, the grille we had to pay to have replaced when it broke on closing the bonnet, new rear wiper motor, new front alloy to stop tyre pressure leak and odd rattles plus a binding rear brake (which we're told they all do!) it's not been a happy 8 months. The dealer told us today that we'd get a good will gesture - so what do you think? Free 20K service? anything else?

Your thoughts...............................

Sorry to hear about all your problems with the paint. There seems to be very few threads about poor paint on the Fabia. Over the last few years I have had a Nissan , Toyota and a Ford but the paint quality on my vRS is probably as good , if not better , than any of them. I know this does not help you and you now must hope that your dealer/Skoda UK can sort out the problems quickly without cost to you. The only problem I have had is the groaning rear brakes which is common.

I'm afraid that Skoda UK were less than helpful regarding the broken grille - they felt it was our fault even though our dealer had told them there were no signs of it being hit etc so we had to pay to have it replaced - although our dealership did paint it for free - thankfully that matches!!

Thanks for your comments though - I'll drive it later and it WILL put a smile on my face and perhaps I'll feel happier?

Cheers

i always thought that the bumper colours and body colours were slightly different as the body is painted metal and the bumpers are plastic, so u can sometimes see a slight discolouration but it shouldnt be really bad colour difference

Looking at the join between the painted metal of the wheel arch and the the painted plastic of the front bumper - I could not see a difference in colour - though the metallic black can look different when you alter your line of sight.
