Used Fabia vRS values

Featured Replies

what will happen to vrs values when new model comes out later this year?

will they fall ,maintain or rise. what does everyone think.

maintain imo...totally diff cars...

^ agree

Yes. There has been such a long gap between old and new VRS that they are now aimed at totally different markets - the cost of a new one will be twice the price of a reasonable example of a Mk1

I think the new vrs fabia will be a very different animal - and therefore used values of fabia 1 vrs should continue to remain steady. I doubt the new fabia vrs will offer the same value for money as the original. Might be academic for me anyway as I put my black magic fabia vrs on ebay last night - after lots of deliberation, and the need for a bigger car again, I am going to upsize to an octavia vrs this spring and a dsg box. For those that hold on to their vrs 1s they might have a pleasant surprise and see an uplift in used values if the new vrs turns out to be a dissapointment - cant wait for them to start appearing in dealers showrooms so the pudding can be tasted :-)

The problem with the new vRS is that it's petrol. And right now, diesel is the flavour of the month. Add in the fact that the new Fabia looks carp and it does about 35mpg instead of 45-55mpg and you've got a complete failure to replace the original vRS with something better. Anyone who wanted a 170bhp 1.4TSI will already have bought a SEAT or VW Polo, neither of which is based on a 1999 platform and both of which have more power.

All in all, even though I love Skoda, I can't see this one being the success the old one was. And as a result, values will remain stupidly high.

The problem with the new vRS is that it's petrol.

Wont most Fabia vrs's be "banger class" cars by now?

Not sure theres much demand for heavilly modded cars unless they're less than about £1500.

:giggle:

Actually a 3-year old vRS SE is worth more than almost any 1-year old Fabia II. And it'll stay that way because the new ones are just the old ones with a worse looking body, less room inside and a worse choice of engines.

yes there are 4 vrs se's for sale at time of writing for £5.00 shy of £10000

Nothing official has suggested this, everything said so far has been pure speculation and guess work.

Skoda Fabia vRS (2010): the engine bay

Will the new Fabia vRS sport a turbodiesel like the last one? We're not clear yet. But sticking a derv in a hot hatch's engine bay does limit its appeal to many enthusiasts.

We'd expect the new vRS to offer a petrol option this time. The VW Group has a variety of downsized unleaded munchers – CAR understands the warmed-up Ibiza Cupra and Polo GTI will be powered by a twincharged 1.4-litre with around 170bhp.

It seems logical to assume the Fabia vRS will have similar firepower. The four-cylinder engine comes in either turbocharged or turbo- and supercharged forms and would be perfect for providing thrills in a front-drive supermini package. Skoda isn't restricted from the group's more powerful motors and the Octavia vRS is still available in petrol and diesel form.

go on manny...i'll have a fiver bet with you...you can have 4/1 it isnt.... :giggle:

Is there not going to be a 140 BHP Ibiza with the 2.0 CR engine? If so why would people not think that could be used in the new vS

Can't belive I'm now one of the masses adding to the speculation. Lost a bit of respect for myself now.

That may be what they are advertised at , but doesn't mean they will find a buyer.

If you look at completed items on Ebay they are selling for a lot less - £6800 for a 2007 car for example

I hope they stay high... from what I can see, if I were to sell mine now, I'd be looking to get around £800 less than what I paid for it nearly 2 years ago :D

Sorely tempted to chop it in for a RX-8... running costs are not an issue seeing as I do max 4000 miles annually.

Having just bought a Fabia VRS 05 plate, I can tell you they are not easy to come across in good condition. Must have looked at 4/5 priced at around £7000/8000 all with relativley good mileage (35-45k) and were sold within days of me arranging to test drive them. They seem to be in demand atm imo.

I eventually got one for around £7000 and I LOVE IT :D

I agree with Rio that they are not easy to come across, when I was looking to buy they were on the forecourt and off in no time. Rainworth Skoda said he couldnt keep up with demand, the SE's were selling at premium prices. I like mine I got what I wanted I'm happy.

Admittedly, this was 2 years ago, but I had a nightmare time tyring to get a Black Fabia VRS - as soon as they appeared on the forecourt they were gone and the silver ones were not far behind either.

Interesting to hear that still seems to be the case now.

All fuel to the fire. Been thinking about swapping mine in for a while. Only thing stopping me is the lack of additional funds to upgrade.............

There are almost no decent black magic ones, and I managed to find a few silver, one of which i bought. The others were either in 75k+ mileage or damaged in some other way..

Personally I'd been looking into buying one for a while, only when it came to finding one did i realise how much hassle it was to find a decent one. Ended up driving 3 hours away to get mine, and having to pay a tad more then the car was worth according to Parkers anyway.

I would have thought you would get more than £7K for an SE (depending on the mileage). My 2006 black magic unmoded furby with 36k (currently on ebay) has already had an offer of 6.5K (which I politely declined) and I expect it to go for at least £7K due to the difficulty of finding unmodded/unmolested ones in black magic colour. There is a slightly older one in black also locally here in west Wales on an 04 plate, but not sure if that is standard or not.

I am planning on getting a new octy to replace the furby - and having driven a pre facelift octy vrs diesel for the second time this last week, have decided to go for the petrol vrs and I think I will be opting for dsg gearbox, subject to me finding one at a dealers somewhere within a few hours drive to try. Wife prefers auto box and whilst i prefer the furby 6 speed manual box, driving her bigger merc auto has converted me to the idea of an auto box when I upsize back up to a bigger car. Furby has been great fun to drive, but practical needs means I need to go back to an estate.

It has 37k on clock , i think it would retail for about £9500 at a main dealer, so maybe £7500 would be a more realistic price. However i have allways found, with one exception (a ford puma) that you never get the trade in price you were expecting

I reckon £7K is about right for a trade in. I've been looking around recently but I'm still undecided whether to replace it whilst it's still got some warranty left, or waiting until next year and ducking the 4 year service.
