intercooler kit info needed

Featured Replies

I thought we had looked at these over the engine FMIC kits. When I looked at them I could see no way of getting the pipes over the engine and down to the intercooler, I didn't think the bonnet would shut. My conclusion was the Golf engine sat lower in the bay than the Octy. Iirc Wtron tried this kit and ended up returning it.

It goes down the right-hand side of the engine (passenger side of the car) not over it. Doesn't look that high from the pic above.

Looks to have the connections - third pic down on the left.

This one's cheap! But no fitted pics. The one above fits with a strut brace :)

Unfortunately not, The connection was added to that pipe later on by the owner of the car. I read his build thread on the golf owners club forum. I can't remember which one it was now. If you look at the kit it doesn't actually show the nipple for the N75 valve.

Not sure if you've had a good look at your engine bay Rob but I would make sure when it goes over the Maf/ cai tube you will have enough clearance to shut the bonnet.

Looking at this:

It'd be tight!

But only one way to find out I suppose.

What's the worst that can happen? Have to re-sell to a local Golf owner :)

Well it's payday and my birthday so I've taken the plunge and ordered the one I linked above.

We'll see if it fits!

hi all

just found this topic i. i have just fitted this one to my octy vrs

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/98-04-FMIC-SKODA-OCTAVIA-1-8T-INTERCOOLER-KIT_W0QQitemZ350315950042QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item5190752fda

i can assure you it is a extremley tight fit it does touch things in places but yes they fit and this comes with the correct pipe for the boost sensor on the octy

i should have took some pics whilst i was fitting but to be honnest i just wanted i fitted so i could get home as i took a holiday to fit it at work and i started at 8am and was finished for 4pm but i did have to fabricate some brackets for the intercooler as the ones i got with it i did not have any instructions and i have not got a clue how they go (still in the box now)

i can say i noticed a instant improvement the boost was like a hammer hitting it felt solid boost no pipes expanding this is one of the best mods i have done to my car so far

i would reccomend a front mount all day but give yourself plenty of time to fit it as its not as easy as it looks

How does it look. Pics please?

Itll no doubt be similar to mine, I shall get better pics for you all, I took this picture while playing around with where the pipes were going, jsut to get a feel, I since shortened a couple of pipes to so that the pipe that runs down the right hand side of the engine sat lower in the bay. I have no issues closing the bonnet...

Only annoyance is trying to put the oil catch can in, spot that would be ideal has a pipe in the way now....

Looks good - you obviously had to trim the grille insert to get it to go back in!

When I did mine, I didnt have to do anything to the grill inserts, the bumper on the other hand had a modest shave here and there....

Hey Guys,

Has anyone put these on a non-vrs? I would like to get one for my 1.9 tdi.

Thanks
