The Channel tunnel and getting your car scratched

Featured Replies

If you ever go on the channel tunnel, try and park in the middle (left to right) of the roadway in the carriage unless as I did, you get stuck adjacent to the stairs / toilets. If that happens and you value your car's paintwork, park hard over to the right. You have to do this immediately, because otherwise you'll have someone parked 6 inches off your rear bumper and you won't be able to reposition.

I've just finished polishing, with moderate success, scratches from along my two left hand doors where inconsiderate, ignorant, incontinent ******s felt they had to keep squeezing and scraping their way past my car to get to the bog. FFS, why can they 1) not hold it for half an hour and 2) not be more careful. The worst offender was some arsehole of a French father who thought it was wonderful to stand there letting his kids run circuits around the carriage for the entire crossing. I could hear the frigging metal buttons and zips on their ****ing little arsehole French ****ting jackets scraping each time they squeezed past. Eventually I just opened the door to stop them going past.

Oh and if you want to get something out of your boot, either hold the tailgate carefully or put something over it so it doesn't hit the ceiling of the carriage.

Think I would have exploded in a situation like that :(

I would have killed France and all it's garlic-swallowing, surrendering gutter-life they call a population.

Steady on there Babs, but there again, what have they ever done for us, apart from "letters"

It's one of the things that makes me get the ferry instead - sounds like I was correct in my decision! :o

Same with that though really, you have to be careful you don't end up parked right by a stairwell upto the decks :dull:

I have to say I did this kept my door open and left very slightly more room the other side. And to be fair the ferry aint much better, last time I went over to france some pratt next to me swung his door open on to my car, bang! Left a nice lil ding..................could not even say sorry about it. Still it will cost him a alot more to repair the bumper long key scratch!

The best thing is to get the 10 pm midnight or 2pm sailing, no bugger on board to park next to you :)

You forgot to mention it is also cheaper!!

Of course, if you are a real tightwad, dont do Dover/Calais, take the Dover/Dunkirk; its a lot cheaper, but you DO have to wade out to the boat on the way back.

Ive used it around 9 or 10 times with no trouble. Always go for early crossings and if loads of kids about, get out and tell the little darlings off. No use just sitting there being all British about it :giggle:
