How many police does it take to nick you for speeding?

The answer 9!

Well at least thats how many where hanging around this morning.

ONE lazer gun, NINE choppers and TWO cars! Talk about a waste of police resources.

Are you sure they were checking for speeding?

We regularly have the same set up in the entrance to our business park a couple of times a week and they are getting untaxed cars.

The extra officers fit wheel clamps to offenders cars so they can't be driven away.

It's compulsive viewing from the office window.

hope you mean bikes, not whirlygigs.......using even one of those to rob a slightly enthusiastic driver says more about some police forces than any rant could ever do

We often get the ANPR (auto number plate recognition) van around the town. They need chase vehicles around -in our town they often have an armed reponse vehicle ready, too......

The logic behind it being that cars with no tax and maybe stolen etc (which is what ANPR is primarily for) are more likely to have undesireables on board, possibly with weapons. Simple really - nothing to worry about.

Unless of course, your vehicle is one of the many with incorrect data held against it on the DVLA computer database...

Where can I order a gun turret? You'll never take me alive, copper!

I was stopped once because they did a check on my registration and it came up as a Scottish motorbike instead of an Irish Mondeo... lol

They have nothing else better to do.

Sometimes.

They put me up for the night when I fell asleep in the road.

Only if it's in traffic!

I think the political interference that's happening with the police force has lost them a lot of respect. Many of my relatives were policemen, but I've certainly lost a lot of respect for the police force, mainly because they've been interfered with by central government. I don't have much respect for how their priorities have been set, or for how they deal with crime in our area. And I don't have any respect for how they treat motorists, with all the lies about speed.

I know this isn't the fault of the police, but unfortunately it's them that take the blame. The sooner politicians stop meddling, the better.

I have seriously thought about joining the force and becoming a traffic cop. Not all police are the same. There are some stone faced Police about but they are just doing their job and they are basically carrying out the rules that are coming from higher up the chain.

I went out with a WPC for while and was shocked by how hard she worked.

Hard work don't bother me TBH it's a different scenario everyday that I would love.

Don't think you'd look as attractive in the uniform though :D

agree in many ways but political meddling does not force a camera operator to hide behind objects to catch more speeders - political meddling tells them to be visible!

That is the sort of behaviour that has lost a lot of my respect for the police!

But it was just the body armour and handcuffs thing wasn't it..... :P

Who sets quotas of the number they have to catch, though?

It must make it so much easier to stomach, when you're pulled over for 33 mph in a 30 mph limit (and probably one that was a 40 limit only a few months earlier) to know that they're just making up the numbers.

That's EXACTLY why I've lost respect for them. I know it's the fault of the politicians, but they really ought to stand up to them.

What like? patrolling miles of motorway stopping people because they have the wrong type of no. plates or because they dont like the look of a driver or more like legally speeding when they wish to.

Yes that's right. They spend all day 'legally' speeding just for the thrill. I refer you to this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/4015917.stm Not an everyday occurance I'll grant you but a little taster of probably what is going through every copper's mind when they pull a car over.

Don't have aproblem with the ANPR set-ups.

If they're getting uninsured & stolen cars off the road, i don't care if they seem to be standing around doing nothing, as some would accuse them.

Or hanging around in unmarked Type R's waiting for some muppet to assume the worst and start driving like an idiot...
