Featured Replies

Rite had my car dyno'd before Revo and got:

Bhp:

178.0 Bhp after 192.0 Bhp

Torque:

206.1lb ft after 245.0lb ft

Any1 got any idea were my 10hp mite be lost!

Bit confused here, it looks like you've gained 10bhp.

Not sure mate...

I was going to say check your air filter, but you've got a K&N...

When you say you had your car dyno'd before and after, was this on the same day, on the same rollers?

Ignore that for a second, how does it feel?

Oh and 3 or 4 bar Revo?

Rite had my car dyno'd before Revo and got:

Bhp:

178.0 Bhp after 192.0 Bhp (should be near 212bhp)

Torque:

206.1lb ft after 245.0lb ft

It was on the same rollers. Had the KnN on for both runs.

The 1st run was on the 5/6/04

Ambient Temp 24'C

Barometric pres 1010mb

The 2nd run was today

Ambient Temp 14'c

Barometric pres 990 mb

Well if anything it should have gone up, given temp and pres.

Which revo is it, 3, 4 etc.

This is a diifficult one...

As Rich says' date=' the most important queston is ... [b']what does it feel like to drive?[/b]

I would be thinking along the lines of... and it would be interesting to know...

is it the full program ?

who installed it ?

are you running an SPS3 ?

if not then what was it set to ?

3 or 4 bar fpr ?

what is the name of the rolling road ?

I might be being a bit intrusive though so you can ignore me :)

aren't K&N's known maf killers?

what air flow are you getting through the maf, if you're able to measure that?

anyway, ignore the numbers, are the graphs smooth?

Does the car consistently pull well?

Which rolling road was it? - if they're not used to VAG 1.8T cars, they might not have been blowing enough air at it, or had loaded the dyno wrong or something.

MAF could definately be a culprit. I've heard stories of K&N's killing them (that's why most go for Green nowadays).

What fuel are you running.

What did the REVO dealer have to say about it??

defo heard that too, do they check the MAF? I know that Jabba do, think they clean it too.

i think that you should forget about blaming the k&n from experience and find another reason

Erm, ok... Bosch MAF's are crap?

Erm, ok... Bosch MAF's are crap?

Got that right, oh and don't forget expensive. :(

doesn't the car run like a pig with a dead or dodgy MAF?

the figures doo seem on the low side.

mine for example was running the following at jbs auto's a few weeks back:

max bhp 221.9

max torque 257.1

max rpm 6170

speed 124.3

temp 18.5 degs

pressure 30,03 "hg(no idea what that means btw)

mines running revo 4 bar programe timing T4 boost L9

and i know for a fact that if you do have a problem revo will do there best to help you out

what did they say when there was only a 10bhp increase?

Did they bother to check for fault codes pre & post remap?

If so, what were the results?

If they did not check, why?

tbh at that low temp a std car could make 192h easily... did they actually bother with the remap?

on who's rollers Paul ?

is this REVO just after an install?

The comparison is before as std some months before.. same dyno agreed, but RR's read different on different visits..

usual comments.. any faults known or checked.. MAF output logged/checked..

Dyno on a stock low boost car even on a long run will generally produce expected figures, whereas on a long run, heatsoak onhigh boosted cars make the chipped cars more sensative to long runs and low cooling from whatever fans they use for cooling. - Seen this at Powerstation and Interpro.

Was this on 95ron or 97 ion fuel?

The Revo's been on the car a while now it drives grand and pulls well but the power drops rite on 5K, we had 2 other RS on the rollers on the same day that were standard and using 95ron 1 made 183 bhp and other made 190bhp, my car was on 97ron + octane booster . I no KnN's can kill MAF's if over oil them and i don't think it's that.

My plan is to change the DV coz old one mite not be holding boost at the top end, put the old air filter back on and then run it again and play around wit the map.

So std car on 95ron makes 190bhp - your car with K&N, remap and 97ron + octane booster made 192??? What did the agent say about this?

Well he asked did i have it switched on, but i don't SP switch thingee!

When did you have it remapped, who by, and was it at the same place as the dyno you went on?

HAVE YOU CONTACTED YOUR REVO AGENT?

Didn't you have 250lbft of lovely torque though?
