Testing a new car on Saturday - Soooooooo

Featured Replies

Sounds like a good deal, Always nice when you can look at the figures and see you got more back for you part ex than you paid for it.

I have just got £800 more selling my Land Rover than i bought it for in October, That's from the same dealer!!

Still trying to find a replacement.

Thats a good deal Mike, I am doing this purely from a financial perspective and not for motoring pleasure :) I have got the bike for hooning around on, and if I can swing it with the wife the possibility of a smaller fun car for the weekend. I am also working on her changing her car, and may be on the look out for a standard Fabia vRS soon to replace her's with. The Eco chariot will save me a fair few pennies in overall cost, allowing me to use some of those on a fun vehicle, wife permitting.

Will you be sticking briskoda stickers in there and bringing it to meets

Same as me really, we are moving house soon and putting £150 into the Land'y ( 22mpg ) is not financal sense. So I'm looking to get a diesel Oct'y which should do about 45mpg much better.

I also have my Scoot for the weekends ( Gilera GP800 ) for fun

And also known as ricky martin? lol

Nice one Tony,

We've found our local Toyota dealer to be far more profesional and helpful than any of the Skoda Main dealers we've used over the years and more supprisingly we can't get over how cheap servicing & parts are from a main dealer.

Good Luck with the new motor.

Oh well, I have ordered one.

£11k for the Superb as a Part Ex and doing it on a Company Purchase rather than a lease, the Prius is a T-Spirit Spec with all toys and has been discounted down to just over £20k, with 3 years free servicing and 8 year warranty.

I know they are massaging the figures, as dealers do, but £11k for a 2.5TDi in part ex in this age of emissions based knee jerk reactions is pretty good, in fact it's £5 MORE than I paid for it 7 months ago.

Right, where did I put my Handbag and Lipstick

To be fair mate, that's a good deal. I have a Toyota dealer on the doorstep and the new Prius looks "OK" IMHO.

At the end of the day we all need a car that suits our needs best in terms of price and running costs, hence why we aren't all hammering around in 911's and Aston's.

Oi Swampy ............................................ I found you on Youtube !!!!!

Having driven the new one, I know you will be pleased with it, far better than the old Prius, and has the toys you could ever want.

As for all the jokes about the Prius, as you quite rightly say, we endured all these jokes over the years with Skoda's.

Well pleased with my SR 180.

Curious to know why you didn't lease it?

A leasing specialist tells me that depreciation on hybrids, on account of uncertainty over the long term durability of the battery systems, is a major factor in the leasing houses fighting shy of them. As a result the residual values are taking a bit of a pasting and lease costs are anything up to 30% more than a petrol equivalent, which would already be less for a diesel.

The figures stacked up better on a lease purchase, and then it will become the wife's car as she will buy it off the business at the end of the deal. Another thing was the trade in of my Superb, almost a full £1k more than We buy any car and just to buy it Skoda deals where offering pennies. That little bit of bad press with Toyota has done wonders for the deals available in the showroom. My local dealer seems to be able to shift Gen 2's as quick as they come in, in fact they don't have any used ones in stock so I am not so sure if your leasing specialist's predictions are accurate ... who knows. Different batteries on the Gen 3 and as long as Road tax is zero and cities have congestion charges a well looked after hybrid will imho be a saleable item.

Cheers ... Fluff (I mean DA-EW)

What about the Honda?

Not sure how it stacks up in comparison from a money perspective but notionally I think I would prefer it.

Crap build quality

Even better, I just found a company in the US that deals in Prius tuning for the 2010 model and have ordered a 4 point underbody brace and strut brace. Oh yeah baby ..... a tuned Prius :) once I get those extra PP9 batteries wired in I will have ooooodles of additional BHP over and above the 134 standard ponies.

I don't need a wind turbine, I can produce enough hot air to pass through the heat exchangers and generate a gigglewot of electricity :)

There is an operation you can have to install the ‘flange fuddler diverter valve’ and then you should have no problems. You will look a bit like a NASA astronaut however, but it’s a small price to pay.

i'm going to throw in a spinner, did you consider a bmw 118d were running one and its low tax slightly higher than prius, but still not much (119g/ km) oh and we got change from 21grand for a mid spec model, well worth a look!
