The trouble with the BTCC tests is that nobody really tests on a level playing field, some run light etc, etc, so it does not really prove much, however, the ecoboost engine is much quicker than last years car, so should give the Honda's and VW's a migraine.

To be honest, I remember a test where one driver wore all the race suit and helmet of a different driver during a test, just to confuse the hell out of the press.

Tordoff massively better than Neate. Good first 2 races for Plato!

  • I'll always support Plato purely because he winds people up but has the skills to back it up, unlike a certain Chris James who has blocked me on Twitter. I didn't say word to him either With Turkingt

I think Rouse is a great driver but his numbers are flattered by the fact that his second title was inherited due to politics  and his 4th was almost a given since he had the only turbocar in the top

Mat Jackson on pole position at Knockhill

Level playing field now?

Good to have another top team back in the running.

Not really, car is still not achieving potential according to data analysis, still time to come in the rolling chassis, the other teams have a big advantage there in half a season's track time - our fault I know - but there you go. More focus on the Aston's in British GT and Blancpain at the moment.

Also, take it you mean Rockingham, rather than Knockhill?.

Tom Ingram. What a bloke.

Do you mean "What a W*nker"

taking out the championship leader...

Well Done Tom

Think Tom got turned around by one of the Chevy's and Plato was wrong place wrong time. Great race between them in race 3

Given that this translates to "taking out JP", I'm going to go with "what a bloke!"

Flash supporter?

I was congratulating Tom on his second place without trying to give too much away in case people hadn't seen it.

Having raced against him, and knowing the thoroughly nice bloke he is, i was very happy for him.

Flash supporter?

Not exclusively, but I do have an intense dislike of JP.

:)

vice-versa for me

;)

Flash whinges too much for me just like the tall man. VW all the way, apart from Aron Smith.

Adam Morgan and Tom Ingram for me. Met Morgan at the autosport show last year and he signed a poster for my eldest daughter which she was very pleased with .  Also following Nic Hamilton's progress and seems like he is settling in well.

Saw Nic in Towcester last weekend! Wish traffic wasnt so bad, I'd have stopped to ask for a picture.

Well what a stitch up race 3 was. I bet JP was wishing so many people got out of his way in race 1 & 2 like they did for Shedden. Wouldn't want to be Aron Smith tomorrow either. P45 time I think/hope.

Aron Smith and Plato have form anyway. Smith crashed Plato off at Knockhill big style a couple of years back.  I don't think they get on.

And did you see Jordan get out of the way in race 3 "mirror. signal. manoeuvre."

Ok so he signalled. But that's not very sporting to just get out of the way.

So then, who's driving what next year?

My bet's on Motorbase painting a very fast Ford Focus in PIRTEK colours?

Jordan's long term contract is with his sponsor, not 888/MG.

Undoubtedly there will be two Hondas.

Probably three VW's, maybe four Mountune Focus (inc Jordan)

Two private Civics (Smith/Depper)

RAR with two new cars - ditching the Audi's I believe

That ok for starters ?

A lot of the youngsters have come on a bit this year.  Morgan, Moffat, Ingram,

The series is booming and there are at least 2 entrant licences available since 2 have been revoked this year.

Not entirely sure this year's rule changes have worked.  The fastest lap grid for race 2 causes a lot of mucking about in race 1 to the detriment of the racing TBH.

I can see Morgan being snapped up by 888 or a works team maybe. Moffat's just a chicane until he gets some proper experience. I think you're right about the fastest lap stuff. Track limits should be more closely monitored - Shedden should have had a penalty at least once today and there others taking liberties with it too.

JP's "I have right of way at all times and am always innocent of 'causing a collision' in racing incidents" attitude does him very few favours with anyone who's not in his fanbase.

Current drivers who have no time for him include Aaron, Flash and Matt (that I'd swear to; there may be others).

I don't see Plato as the villain in driving standards, Matt is the one who has been indulged by TOCA for years with his bump passes  - he rarely pulls off a pass at a slow corner without "push to pass".

I do think the public images and confrontations are managed by TOCA to create public interest - a bit of a NASCAR - lite.

Regardless of driving behaviour, yesterday there was more action in 15 mins of BTCC than the whole Formula One "race" from Sochi.
