Tordoff massively better than Neate. Good first 2 races for Plato!

  • I'll always support Plato purely because he winds people up but has the skills to back it up, unlike a certain Chris James who has blocked me on Twitter. I didn't say word to him either With Turkingt

I think Rouse is a great driver but his numbers are flattered by the fact that his second title was inherited due to politics  and his 4th was almost a given since he had the only turbocar in the top

Current drivers who have no time for him include Aaron, Flash and Matt (that I'd swear to; there may be others).

There are many more, part of it is not the driving on the track , but the antics with officials post race. Many respect him, not many like him.

I think his year with Menu years ago stamped his character with how he behaves today.

I can see Morgan being snapped up by 888 or a works team maybe.

Hopefully so, but a lot of teams are getting close to where Motorbase were at the beginning of the season, in that they are finding it difficult to find quality sponsorship that pays their bills through the complete season, and the drivers are not bringing enough money.

To be honest it has been a few years since I have seen it this tight financially across a great many teams - look at WSR this year, they had to make big decisions following the ebay sponsor deal, and it caused them real pain.

How so for WSR?  They got rid of their slow renta-driver and put Tordoff in instead, and replaced a double UK champ with a Triple World champ (with the works connection - which can't hurt)

All worked out pretty good in the end.

If you had asked that question at the beginning of the year, the future did not look anything like so rosy, as is the same for all the main teams.

It is one thing to have a successful season to attract sponsors for next year, but when this years TOCA and engine supplier debts wipe out over 50% of that money paying for last years poor sponsor deal, there is not much left to move forward with.

I don't see Plato as the villain in driving standards, Matt is the one who has been indulged by TOCA for years with his bump passes  - he rarely pulls off a pass at a slow corner without "push to pass".

I do think the public images and confrontations are managed by TOCA to create public interest - a bit of a NASCAR - lite.

I'm taking this back to the days of of the Renault Lagunas and Nissan Primeras, when JP's excessively robust overtakes lost MN the Independents' title 2 years running.

Tordoff has potential, but I'm unsure on Andy, he doesn't seem that consistent from race to race, track to track. He's obviously brought some money to the team (probably the main reason they hired him) so hopefully next year will be better. But calendar clashes with other series he races in are a worry for a title fight.

Long memory you have Ken :) Plato was a young charger in a works car then, and TBH the indy cars were mostly (not the Dynamics Primera I'll admit) in the way during the height of Super Touring.  i'll bet he wasn't the only works pilot shoving them about.

The last few years have generally seen the Hondas hobbled on top speed by boost equivalency, but even so Matt Neal has used the bumper excessively at Brands and Oulton year in year out.  I think both Flash and JP have won their titles more honestly than he, with rather less resort to bullying tactics on the track.

Well for me the whole btcc is just massively entertaining. I've been into the btcc since the early 90's and f1/other motorsport but in honesty you rarely see that level of race and competition I f1 . I don't support any particular driver or team (although I should probably be a team dynamics guy only being 7 miles from their base) but I was shouting for plato in race three an sheddon did seem to carve his way through the field far too easily! If I were plato I wud of felt slightly robbed. End of day tho great entertainment and where do you see that much competitive motorsport for £25 for a day. I'll be back at Silverstone nx yr as always n hopefully make a few other circuits. Looking forward to next season already!

I shall be booking my tickets for Croft and Knockhill shortly...

Mystic Meg or what?

So then, who's driving what next year?

My bet's on Motorbase painting a very fast Ford Focus in PIRTEK colours?

Jordan's long term contract is with his sponsor, not 888/MG.

Jordan now takes PIRTEK deal to Motorbase for a Focus.

Always thought Aron Smith should have been ditched. Should be sacked now rather than saying "it's resolved".

Aron's father brings a good personal sponsorship package to any team, I'm not sure they would be in a rush to lose that, and maybe he reminded the team to that effect.

Junior is the same in that Pirtek are a personal sponsor, making him a very desirable proposition.

Pretty sure Warren Scott would have liked to win the title as a team owner, without some wilful knob of an employee messing it all up. Won't be a surprise if he lets him go. I seem to remember the BMR VW were completely bare of sponsor decals early in the season so I'm guessing its Warren's own cash that paid all the bills.

So were the Motorbase cars this year, but drivers still paid to mend them if they bent them. When drivers are paying for their drive and damages their ambitions become very aggressively focused, team owners can only "want " so much before the reality of who is paying who comes up in the discussion. The sooner we get back to stable finance and better control over team disciplines the better in my opinion.

The BMR CC's are now proven and very quick. Don't you reckon that there are sponsored drivers out there who'd leap at the chance to take over the 3rd car when it becomes vacant. I think Smith was only contracted for 2015 anyway.

I'm hoping that Jake Hill gets a full seat next year, he's shown some promise in his other racing

I totally agree, the thing is you look over a new driver, all the finance looks good, and everybody talks their best talk so the world is wonderful at that moment.

Scroll on 2 to 3 months and you find your "A" driver seems to think that his contract involves the support and finance of the "B" and "C" drivers in the team to get him across the line, which immediately starts the slippery downward slope for the rest of the season, as they all have clauses in place on their drives for equal treatment and status unless priorly agreed - which is getting rarer lately.

Colin Turkington said in his ITV4 interview that he never needed help from anybody else to get his championships, and it is that among other things that makes him very sought after on the drivers market, he just does not always have good finances in place which is quite sad really.

Motorbase ran Jake Hill a couple of years back at Brands, he is a really nice, talented lad, with good family support that is a pleasure to work with. I also hope good things come soon for him too...........................you never know

Team BMR to run Subaru's with works support in 2016 for Plaro and Turks

Team BMR to run Subaru's with works support in 2016 for Plaro and Turks

"...run Subaru's what?"

Sirsly? Subaru have never asked me what I want in car. Oh and I don't see the relevance to my question in "Subaru have a new model that uses a made up word".

Levorg is "grovel" backwards.

I hope team BMR dont have to after taking this fairly radical approach to BTCC...
