A tank doesn't last more than a week for me sometimes.. probably why i've never had a problem

steal some gloves from the produce section in the supermarket

I always keep a few spare gloves in the car. And, as a dog owner, I've usually got a plastic bag in my pocket that can be pressed into service for the job! :) Having said that, I find that most stations have gloves available.

My local Waitsose mostly Have gloves available with hand wash facilities at the pay kiosk...gave up on long tesco queues and dirty pumps!!

I take my hat off to you sir. If only all dog owners were like you!

Most of them are, it's the bad ones that are the exception.

...a bit like Wetherspoons then ?? :giggle:

Supermarket diesel here in NI is deff lower quality that the branded stuff. My PD105 runs slightly rough, deff noisier and develops less power on it. Cold starting too seems to be an issue, and lets face it .. .it's not significantly cheaper anymore.

My local Sainsburys, 113.9 at the weekend when I last filled up, the local BP 116.9 (I dread to think how much the ultimate was...)

Only 3p a litre you say, but as someone who frequently puts 80 litres a week of fuel into the car that adds up over time...

That's not an inconsiderable 13,63p.p.g difference for those who still use the old fashioned gallons! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

some say it all goes down the same hole

diesel is mostly the same price at tesco as it is everywhere else here in NI. 117.9 a few days ago. and since they dont do the 5p off vouchers any more there's no good reason to fill up at a place that doesn't make my car run well.

To all of you that always take a few extra pairs to keep as spares, that explains why there is none for the rest of us.....

I refuse to use my local Tesco petrol station. Its in a shocking state of repair and several of the auto cut offs on their pumps (both diesel and petrol) don't seem to work.

I found this out the hard way a couple of months ago when the cut out on the diesel pump did not work and I got about half a gallon of diesel all over my trousers and shoes. Ruined them.

I complained to the cashier and was getting the the usual Tesco run around, and blow me whilst this going on another guy came in to shout at them as well. Same thing had happened to him as well on a different pump!

This is the same Tesco station where they put diesel in the petrol tanks (or was it the other way around) a couple of years ago.

My VRS gurgles when nearly full, I usually leave it at that to avoid the splash back

When I used to drive diesel, I kept wet wipes in my glovebox. Lack of gloves/washing facilities is nothing new, sadly.

Didnt Auto-express look into performance of different fuels can came to the conclusion that the expensive fuels made no difference as far as could be determined.

I chuck in anything that comes to hand when I need it and have never noticed any difference between brands - except some are cheaper.

My right foot makes the bigget difference to acceleration, speed and MPG than anything else Ive ever come across.

it was either aouto express or one of the car programs that tested petrol such as vpower. They found no difference on an average standard engine, slight increase in performance on reasonalby moded cars (such as vrs's) and high performance cars such as evo's,scoobies and M3's wont run on anything else.

filled the works car up at Tesco this morning, just checked the receipt and its got Esso printed all over it, including "esso petrolium company LTD"

Thought I'd throw that into the mix...........HeeHee

Think that was fifth gear, saw that show not long ago.... Auto Express may well have done a similar article though

My parents run an oil company over here and most of the fuel they get comes in through Galway. All fuel for all companies comes in to basically 2 depots in Galway. You name the company getting their oil through Galway and they're all getting the same stuff. I believe it's a similar situation in Dublin. I cannot see there being any great difference in the UK either. Not every oil company are bringing in fuel from different refineries so a lot of it is the same stuff regardless of the branding.
