VRS CR Fuel Economy

Featured Replies

Just over 2000 miles on my VRS CR.

Best 53mpg, average since new 45.6mpg (Maxidot)...I have a big motorway journey this Friday which will no doubt see the average figure rise a bit. I find that now the weather is improving, so is the economy.

I'm obtaining my best mpg's on V-Power diesel...and the performance is NOTICABLY better.

I took my bro-in-law out the other day, he's got a Volvo V50 D5...he thought the performance was stronger in the VRS, the engine smoother...build quality better...he only gets 35mpg(!)...and even though his is an estate (mine's the hatch), the VRS has a much bigger boot...afterwards he looked a little sick & kept saying "I never thought it would be so good"! :giggle:

I'm awaiting my CR VRS but have had a 170PD in a leon for 3years, I do a good mix of miles and the leon is on 80k now. The 170PD has always been rubbish on mpg so the 42 sounds about right combined with town driving down to 35.

Happy about these CR mpg's that's for sure.

I am getting around 42mpg in my vRS CR

Return journey home today was 61.5MPG

Just to reiterate, this is in the 2.0 140 DSG!

Never had figures this good - must be weather? (Has been extremely mild today)

I picked up my PD Vrs yesterday and I was a little surprised on the fuel consumption. On the way to pick the car up in my old Ibiza Tdi FR I averaged 52mpg, on the way back in the Vrs I got 43mpg. I was hoping for a little more tbh. I am hoping after P-Torque work there magic on Saturday it will be a little better. Has anyone got a remapped car and found the fuel consumption to be better afterwards?

No but a brand new car will be tight and wont be giving optimum MPG's.

I had an Ibiza FR TDI before I had my current car, bought it with 9K on the clock, and it was ****e on economy, 42-44MPG, after I'd put some miles on the clock it was into the 50's easily

Hi,

We changed last month from the PD VRS to a CR VRS. Difference is night and day. Smoother and a lot more quiet. Car handles better. Fuel consumption has went from 49 to 55 average. Top reading in its first month on a trip was 63.7. Best we ever got on the PD was about 56 from what I can remember. Its even better than what we got in our first octy, a pd sport 140. Maxidot, Auto Lights and Rear Dim mirror def. worth it. Rear parking sensors good too if you do a lot of city reverse parking like we do. Car draws more attention than last one due to the running lights and reshaped nose I guess. End of the day that increases your visibility so in my opinion the car is safer too. Important when you do a lot of miles commuting. Alloys easier to clean as well which is always a good point. Will be interested to see if the mileage increases when the original dunlop gt maxx get replaced when the time comes.

Forgot to say something I just noticed the other day, you can change cd tracks up and down with your stalk buttons on maxidot so as long as you have the cd you want in and the required volume. You do have remote cd control via maxidot. Havent checked so far to see if it changes the radio stations.

to be fair its a bigger and heavier car so it will not be as good as the ibiza. Also depends on the mileage on both, my fabia once it hit about 30k started gettin really good on fuel.

At the moment I'm doing alot more around town work in both of them and on a tank they will both do about the same mileage around the 520-550 mark though the Octavia's tank is 10litres bigger. Next month I will be going up north to yorkshire for a week so it will be interesting what the octavia will return on a good run.

edit thanks to Brimma  lol

Oh yea I understand that. My Octavia has done 23k, so I would imagine it still needs to loosen up a bit anyway.

I believe that our diesel is different to UK or European diesel (not as clean) but my CR vRS manual had travelled 7034 km at the last fill and I have averaged 6.7L/100km since new. Translated to English that means 4371 miles at 42.16 mpg average.

That's mainly suburban driving 30-50mph with relatively small amounts of freeway (60mph) driving.

Going to the airport and back the other night with a 105 mile round trip and 80 miles of freeway I did get the mpg for the trip up over 62.

Compared to my PD vRS, I am averaging roughly 1.5 mpg more overall. However this has been over a particularly cold winter and 5,000 miles from new.

With the improved weather things seem to be improving. The Maxidot is a bit optimistic (5-6% over), but I am seeing genuine 50 mpg on runs (53 mpg indicated).

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. The only remotely scientific way to get a picture of the mpg for a type of car / engine is a bit of searching on spritmonitor.de. Register so you get mpg rather than l/100km figures. Recommend for a good idea of VRS TDIs in general, you filter by Skoda Octavia, diesel, 2006 - present, with power of 125KW. Set minimum km to 10,000. Don't set an exact model name. Then, to get an idea of PD vs CR, best way is probably just to adjust the year of manufacture range.

You can also click the mpg link in my sig. There is a comparison button on the left. Remember you have to register to get mpg.

That's one hell of a difference

lol whoops! now edited stupid 0 button not working!

My FL vRS CR has now covered 9000 miles... long term average (maxidot) is 49.6 mpg.

Fast B roads and keeping to under 75 on the motorway it's easy to get 52+ mpg.

Interestingly over the last 1000 miles or so the engine seems to have loosened up noticeably. It's always been pretty smooth but it's now more eager and willing to rev

I don't believe my PD Vrs would return 52mpg at 75mph on the motorway. More like 46?

Around 46 is what mine will do at 75. If I keep it to around 70 or just below I can creep up to 50ish. The best I ever achieved was 55 and that was doing 50ish on A/B roads.
