vrs tsi and vrs tfsi?

Featured Replies

I read somewhere that the old EA113 has the dipstick at the front whereas the EA888 has the dipstick on the side........

Also found this on an american forum (credit to Arin@APR)

US MK5/MK6 2.0 TSI Engine

CCTA

CBFA

CCT and CBF denote the engine's mechanical structure. IE, secondary injection (CBF) vs non secondary injection (CCT). A, the 4th letter, denotes the power output for the calibration, ie both rated in the us for 207ft-lb/200hp.

ROW MK6 and A3 2.0 TSI Engines

CCZA - A3

CCZB - MK6

CCZ denotes the european mechanical structure. A denotes the 200HP calibration. B denotes the 210HP calibration

Please can somebody confirm if latest spec VRS is CCZA or B !!!??? Probably gonna get one myself now it looks like it's defo the new chain driven engine

Anybody interested in a 30 month old fully loaded diesel CRV???

According to the vehicle data on the inside cover of my service scehdule book (from the car that I cant have yet) the engine is a CCZA type

Mine has "CCZA" on the service schedule sticker.

Dipstick on the left of the engine rather than in front.

TSI on the plastic cover.

Car is a 2010 MY FL vrs.

Does this mean its a new EA888?

Our recently delivered VRS's engine is marked as TSI despite the brochures stil stating TFSI which seems odd Skoda UK have not corrected in their brochures.

To drive, compared to what I expected and what appears in the brochures last year when we ordered the car, the engine seems to have more torque than expected and I see the max torque is reached 100 rpm lower on the TSI than TFSI. Clearly the motivation by VAG is to use the latest engines which are better at hitting the lower CO2 outputs, I gather the TSI is some 10 or 15 grams per kilometer lower and possibly the new engine has contributed to the FL Octavia dropping 20 kgs in kerb weight which can aid acceleration and fuel consumption.

My slight beef is that have Skoda have done the engine change without changing the gear ratios? On a good note the fuel consumption is very impressive. Driving on the A roads through Wales it easily manages 40 mpg plus, sixth gear can be maintained squirting the engine from 35 mph (1400 rpm) to 65 mph (cops round mainly corners A40, A44). We went down to Wales in a 140 hp TDI (DSG) SEAT and the VRS and the there was suprising small difference in fuel consumption but the VRS was much more pleasant to drive (ie twice the width of power spread).

Anybody has the FL Octavia TSI gear ratios/final dirve etc? Want to try and figure out the optimum gear change revs to change up for this TSI engined car as that point is clearly different to the TFSI as the torque/power tails off slightly lower in the rev range.

Engine is slightly noisier than expected because of the triple chain but use to it via motorcycles and it is not really a bother. Very happy overall. How main miles to loosen up? Presumably same as TFSI. A lot of questions. Answers out there somewhere. There are PDFs for US engines called 20TSI.PDF that is quite interesting, also one called 2.0L_FSI.PDF (underscore is a white space) for technical description.

It's not that I don't trust the two guys on here that say their cars have the tsi engine but can they check engine codes to be sure please? I find it strange that Skoda aren't advertising the change from tfsi to tsi in their brouchure etc.

I would, but my car's not here yet, this is build week for it though.

Yeah B)

which seems odd Skoda UK have not corrected in their brochures.

This is my real complaint about skoda, getting information out of them is murder. The website's completely out of date in places and just plain wrong in others (e.g. lists the ltd edition as if it's a model you can choose). The brochures are the most accurate source of info, but even they are not perfect (elegance spec & folding mirrors debacle). Why's the car configurator listed if it doesn't work?!

It all seems to be exclusive to Skoda UK, the other parts of Skoda seem pretty clued up.

Anybody has the FL Octavia TSI gear ratios/final dirve etc?

Looking for these too. I invested in the workshop manuals (ELSA), the parts catalogue (ETKA) and a few other bobbins so i'm fairly sure i'm sitting on the info, but just not navigated to it yet. will post on here when i find it because it doesn't appear to be published anywhere else.

lol- cheers, be interested to see the numbers on the ratios. Expect they may put higher ratios in 2011 model and perhaps introduce 7 speed DSG ( to lower CO2 and improve fuel consumption) when beefed up to take the 280 NM that the TSI VRS puts out...

What C02 band is the 2.0 TSI engine?

What C02 band is the 2.0 TSI engine?

c02 is 175 which is band H.

This thread came up on my notifications thing.

Since found out that a) the engine shipping in the FL vrs is CCZA (well it is in mine) and B.) CCZA = 208bhp, with peak torque starting 100rpm lower, at 1700rpm.

The figures posted above are still correct, its just they're for an engine Skoda don't use in the UK :giggle:

All facelift Octavias of every engine size are Tsi rather tha Tfsi engines (it was part of the whole FL 'deal', but actually started with the last pre-FL model produced, the Limited Edition that as well as the new engine had the new swtich gear too). Apart from slightly better fuel economy (and allegedly better reliability) , the main attaction is that you now don't need a cam-belt change at the 3 year service (I think?) because the chain should never wear out...

The remap's are worth mentioning for this engine :-O Stage 1 on this engine seems to be on a par with Stage 2 on the TFSI (!)

Ben @ Shark is churning out some sweet looking graphs (can't find a link ATM)

The Revo guys seem to have pulled their finger out too, almost 260bhp, 310 lb/ft and holding it really high, almost forever in the graphs. The rolling road turned out 204bhp for the 208bhp car so possibly even under reading. Possibly.

revotsiperform2_comparison_big.gif

My only concern with the revo map, is it too much? That's a lot of torque and it's above 275 lb/ft from 3000rpm to 4500rpm. That's a lot over stock, and it's in the rev range you'd use fairly often.

The tsi has a much better fuel pump than the TFSI, and i suspect that remap wise the TSI stage 1 will be near to the TFSI stage 2 output, and the TSI stage 2 will be like the TFSI stage 2+ output.

i dont think there will be an option of stage 2+ on the TSI though as there isnt a fuel pump upgrade required

:) I will not be doing any tuning as this engine is standard in mine.

TSI - 155 kilowatts (211 PS; 208 bhp) @ 5,300-6,200 rpm; 280 newton metres (207 ft·lbf) @ 1,700-5,200 rpm — CCZA

Or it could be as below

TSI - 147 kilowatts (200 PS; 197 bhp) @ 5,100-6,000 rpm; 320 newton metres (236 ft·lbf) @ 1,700-5,000 rpm - CCZA

even if your not into tuning, the stage 1 map is a huge improvment in drivability, requires no additional modifications and will give an increase in MPG(driven like for like).

They must have upgraded the power for 2010 mine 2009 was specced 197 BHP which was same as the Scirrocco and confirmed by RR standard run figure.

Where is it printed on the car?

Would say a remap does transform a good car into a brilliant car all for less than £500.00

The CCZA is indicated in my service book and is also printed on the black label/plate on the passenger side B pillar.

Found the details on the Web regarding power (my service book states 147KW but some reports are saying it has the GTI mk6 power)

The only thing I know for definite is its a TSI engine.

AFAIK the engines are identical, the differences are in the ECU where the performance of the car is controlled..

for example the cupra, and ed 30 k04 engines are identical, however the ECU's are different. cupra 240bhp, ed 30 230hp, and they both tune identically power wise

Agreed the Engines will be the same but with the ECU/mapping being different.

I just was pointing out I had found this conflicting information on the web.

i think you shouold gtet it remapped, and then we can try ours out side by side to see the difference between the TFSI and TSI. Were both in kent.

come on, do it in the name of science :giggle:

if your interested in trying a stage 1 car your welcome to try mine

Revo stage 1 on a vrs tsi set to performance mode 2 will give you in the region of 255. Revo's claims are always on the ambitious side but the remap is excellent.

Just what is going on in the TSI range? I know what it means in the case of a Skoda.

In the VW sirocco it stand for Turbo Supercharged Injected!

Does anybody know (For Fact) lol why Audi still use the TFSI and not the so-called better TSI?

To separate it from other brands within the group.

To separate it from other brands within the group.

So as Audi use the best most expensive set-ups does that mean the TSI is cheaper to make and not as good as the TFSI?

Edited by 07 vRS Taxi

I meant they just use tfsi badging to separate them
