Newbie - Variable Load Floor?

Featured Replies

Hi

Just about to order an Octavia vRS Diesel DSG taking advantage of the VAT money back, makes the car really affordable (time for a few options).

Can someone please explain what the Variable Load Floor is and is it available on the hatch, also does the full size spare cause an uneven boot floor.

Thanks

Dan

If the car takes 205 tyres the full size spare is flush with the standard boot floor. If it's a VRS with 225 width tyres the spare is a 205 and may be labelled as a space saver as it doesn't match the other tyres fitted. The variable boot floor is a raised floor (I think) flush with the boot sill so you can slide stuff straight into the boot. It should be available on the hatch as the boot floor area is the same on both hatch and estate.

available on both but dealer fit on the hatch

I have a VRs Limited edition estate with a dealer fitted variable load floor. Basically, it's a very useful space to hide stuff. I also have a full size 18" spare wheel which does not affect the boot floor

Here are the pics. Variable is Flat and slush, normal is deeper.

You can also position the floor in different positions, effectively partioning the boot into two smaller areas to stop stuff sliding around, or use the space between the floors to store extra bits hidden out of the way.

Think the car I looked at in the flesh had this option do you think it's worth the extra ££££'sss

I am currently doing some price comparisons.

The cheapest I have found so far is www.autoebid.com.

The spec I am looking at - 2.0 TDI DSG L&K with some additions is £ 20,078. DTD is 21,060, nearly £1k more.

I am going to play my two local dealers off against this price, and see what happens.
