I thought the driver of the lorry was going to have a heart attack, he was not a well man.

A witness jumped out of her car and had a bit of a go at him, though he was going to keel over.

The repair garage can only provide a Corsa and they don

not nice, dont think that will T-cut out!!!!

Not very pleasant at all. I also have a lorry fobia. My fiesta was clipped at the rear quarter panel by a lorry while i was doing 60mph on the M2 outside belfast. I went sideways accross 4 lanes of rush hour traffic only to come to rest in the fast lane perpendicular to the oncoming traffic. Unfortunately the Crash barrier on the central reserve stopped the car.

My first written off car!

Lorry drivers cut lanes all the time, and couldn't give a monkeys about who or what is in their path.

How is your neck? do you feel any tingling in your fingers?? ;)

Ouch, indeed!

Always wise to give lorries lots of room - even when they're indicating to go one way they may need to swing out first to get round. I tend to hang well back until I can see a clear path through.

As others have said, I hope it gets resolved quickly.

I would have given him plenty of room except he did not need it, it was a wide two lane approach and it was just a short wheel based skip tuck.

I think if i get one of those buffers from Halfords it might buff out :)

The car is due to be returned in a couple of months as we have covered 60K together, thank god it was not my new one.

That's a lot of damage!

ouch! the good thing is that the car can be repaired :)

damn roundabouts!

Got a car sorted, looks like it may be a New Mondeo, I will let you all know my impressions, May go lorry hunting in it tomorrow :)

Norwich Union, Drive Assist and Nation Wide Repair Centre (Boston) have all been excellent, hats off to them.

The car is being picked up tomorrow by Nation Widr Repair Centre and a courtesy car is being provided by Dirve Assist tomorrow too.

So no car tonight, looks like i may have to go to the pub :)

I willl let you know how the repairs go.

Hey, we're not all inconsiderate drivers. But if the general motoring public had a bit more regard for trucks (and all other road users) there would be far fewer accidents. The standard of driving in this country is CRAP. I can't count the number of times I've been cut up by some prat of a car driver while I've been driving a truck. Trying to stop or swerve a fully laden HGV isn't much fun. Give us a bit more room, we need it.

clayts; sorry to hear about the car, that can be repaired though. At least you are OK.

Sorry about your car, bit of a mess. I had a similar incident with a truck on the Kings Lynn bypass a few years ago... not a major problem as I was only driving a Vauxhall Vectra ;)

Good to see another briskoda member from the wilds of Lincolnshire :)

 Back door looks like it was attacked by a Great White. Hope the repair bill isn't too painful

I agree whole hartedly, My father was a lorry driver and he had pleanty of stories, I once saw what could have been an horrific accedent on the M1 when a car cut up a lorry exiting at J29, God knows how the lorry driver avoided it but he did, superb driving (may have needed new pants)

I have nothing against lorry drivers or their driving, just the one that hit my car.

Can't say I blame you for that, and anyway I've also had arguments with other truck/bus drivers in the past, I don't know how some of them passed the test. The trouble is the perfect driver doesn't exist.

I make a point of never getting into a position when a lorry cutting a corner could put me in danger. All you need to do is hang back a car length or two wait for the road to straighten and you can quickly nip passed.

I think this is one of those things that you only experience once, unless you're unlucky.

most lorry/bus/van drivers are the best on the road, being the most sensible and forward thinking drivers out there. but then there is the minority, and they are terrible and ruin the name for the rest, i drive a van all day every day around oxford city and it is a nightmare the amount of people that drive terribly(car drivers) then moan at you in the /lorry/bus/van as they think that you MUST be in the wrong because of what you are driving.

the most things are people using blatently the wrong lanes on roundabouts and just cutting in, i don't let em though. gotta learn em some how. i mean, how can some one think that the left hand lane of three is the correct lane for the 3rd exit of a 5 exit(including the one you are leaving) round about?? or straight over in the left lane of 2 on a mini-roundabout when you can either go straight or left and its a single carraigeway roundabout. idiots!!!!!

Driving instructors take note, more roundabout practice please

When i was learning to drive roundabouts used to scare me due to the volume and speed of traffic already on the roundabout, but you get used to that, however something that is hard to get used to is some one cutting you up to make a hasty exit, or someone coming around the outside at speed while you are trying to exit.

I am a Fire service driving instructor, both LGV and cars and roundabouts are a major headache in an LGV, if other drivers would be more patient then everyone could get on much better, the main problem with the LGV is that once they come to a complete stop they take a lot to get moving again, and also people in cars come onto roundabouts far too fast and then get annoyed when an LGV holds them up.

I know this wasn't the case in this instance but it is a problem.

At least we have the option of Blue lights ;)

Can you send me some blue lights please :)

Ooh - great idea. Me too :) :)

I got a Vauxhall Meriva as a courtsey car, I have driven it to Stafford and back today (160 miles) and let me tell you i am shattered, What a horrible piece of engineering, the most uncomfortable and unlikable piece of plastic and metal i have ever seen.

To be fair, i can see some benefit in having 60-odd combinations of seating positions, but as the driver i would like to have arrived home tonight relaxed, not aching and stiff (and no i am not an old man)

The switch gear is awfull too.

On the plus side the 1.7 TDCI engine is quite nice, lots of tourque all the way through the revs and it red lines at 5000 rather than 45000, first and second gear are a little short though

I want my Occy back !!!!!! (with blue lights)

Can you send me some blue lights please :)

LOL i'll see what i can do ;) would make a nice Xmas pressy :D

I totally agree with you. also if people tried using their

indicators on roundabouts life would be a lot easier.

To hell with the remap, I WANT SOME OF THEM BLUE LIGHTS.

What about a Briskoda group buy discount? ;)
