match drive the deal price

Featured Replies

Nope, they pass on the sale to the dealer and all your conversations are with them.

The dealer pays DtD £250 for brokering the sale.

Just be aware that the dealer will be a high volume setup, and as such will only be interested in getting you out of the door as quick as they can.

i've no idea what the commission is but disagree about the quality of the dealer. yes they may have a high turnover but the quality of service i have had from the current dealer that alos supplies DTD was first class, far better than that of my local dealer. Likewise I have also bought a MINI through DTD - again the dealer was excellent. You pay an initial deposit to DTD and this is subtracted from the dealers invoice. The only 'hidden' extra is that now DTD only provide 6 months tax in their quoted price (you can upgrade to 12 at cost price).

DTD also include delivery in their prices too so unless you're in the highlands etc its not an issue where their dealer may be located.

i'd have no qulams about buying through them at all.

That's odd, as my quote included 12 months VED as standard.

you're right - they must have changed it back within the last 3 months - in that case its even better!

Most dealers seem to disregard DtD prices until you show them that you are a genuine purchaser and will quite happily use DtD if they can't get close.

I've recently ordered a new vRS and initially the closest the dealer could get was to within about £1K, but when I said "ok, looks like DtD have got another order" he said "hold on" and a short while later came back with a price that was within £150 of the DtD price. I should add that this was all done via email one Thursday morning.

Although the price isn't quite as good as DtD, it does save me having to collect the car from London.

As an aside the dealer looked at the DtD price and said that it is below cost price

My local dealer said exactly the same thing when I asked them to match DTD. It can't be true - if it were then surely they'd buy their stock from DTD rather than direct from Skoda?

DTD was £1000 below list. I tried 3 local dealers, and told all 3 that I'd sign on the spot if they could get close. The first said £100 off was the best he could do. With the other two I said if they could get half-way I'd order (i.e. £500 off). Neither would do that. So I went home and ordered online from DTD :)

It could be to do with their sales during that particular quarter. If they've not quite reached their bonus quota they're probably more willing to do a deal.

I emailed half a dozen dealers and only one showed any appreciable interest. Some of the others didn't even bother to quote, just said they couldn't get near.

At first the dealer I've bought from said it was below cost, but then after he went away and spoke to his boss, he found a way to get within £150, so the deal was done.

As previously stated, DTD just pass on your sale to a dealer to discuss final terms. At which point you can negotiate Part Ex with them.

They do take money, they want a deposit if your ordering a new car, same as anyone would do.

iirc you can tick a box to say enquiry only where you don't need to enter your card details. i'd give them a call to see if they will discuss your px - if you're completely upfront with condition etc they may give you a price. Also try webuyanycar so then at least you have a bottom line for a hassle free sale. i'd seriously consider private sale tho.

BTW to an above poster - DtD include delivery to any England address.

out of interest how does your 'cost to change' compare between Salisbury and the DtD/webuyanycar combo

Sort of, but only if you're NOT buying on finance. If buying on finance, you have to go to the delership and sign the paperwork (they won't post forms for signing, as the sale then comes under the distance selling rules and makes it easier to reject the car).

Technically you could go to the dealership and sign the paperwork beforehand, but if you live some way away, it's not really practical or cost effective.

Also note that the free delivery is for driven, not trailered, delivery.

Should add, that my experience of buying through DtD only relates to wifes Yeti, so other marques dealers may do things differently.

I just spoke to DTD and they say the end dealer wont even consider PX. was he talking rubbish?

Probably not. The DtD dealers are only interested in shifting lots of metal out of the showroom, not taking any in.

Has anybody used DTD, AND taken out the dealer finance.

I am quite lucky in the fact that I am very close to Isleworth!.

When I saw my local dealer, he said that they dont match the drive the deal price as they buy at lease rates (which is obviously not true) and that by the time you source your own finance, it would not be at the rate a Skoda dealer would offer (7.9 on a PCP)

If it is the case that some dealers will match the DTD price, AND offer finance, I know that the DTD price is £1k less than the current VAT free offer.

I have finally found a dealer who has a 2.0D DSG estate for me to test drive. I hope they want to do a deal tomorrow.

just to let you know, I got mine for £500 below the current VAT offer and got the 5.4% finance deal, straight from Kings Heath Birmingham; that was good enough for me.

I just got mine £500 less than the VAT free price (DTD was £1400.00 off but we cant work out HOW!)

Now the 12 week wait for my L&K

I ordered at the end of January, delivery late April. Rainworth Skoda Mansfield matched the DTD price which was substantially below the VAT free offer, and I got the 0% finance deal and a reasonable PX figure. My local dealer couldn't get close. Have a look at my review in the East Midlands dealer section for a bit more info.

I'll second this. Rainworth were spot on.
