match drive the deal price

Featured Replies

morning

well all decided vrs petrol it is .............

but does any one know of any dealers that will match (or be close with a good px) DTD price

ive tryed central in brum like some one mentioned on this forum but they still about £800 away and said they cant do any better

i dont mind travelling so any where in the country will do ....

thanks

Rainworth in Mansfield seem to be quite competitive

Try Silbury Skoda in Cramlington. I ordered mine from them two weeks ago and they not only matched the DTD price but also chucked in auto dim mirror, spare wheel and full tank of the black stuff (combined cost of around £250) for free. I didn't have a part ex though. Current wait is around 14 weeks though so you've got plenty of time to shift your present car privately. You might get a better deal that way.

Try Allams of Epsom....they may be able to get close

Just a quick story on my experience.

Looking at an Octavia Estate, have a trade in (Polo GTI) and looking for the best cost to change.

Glass guide for my trade in is £6.5k crap condition £7.5k OK condition, up to £8.5k mint condition.

Now obviously I think my car is in mint condition so expect up to £8.5k trade in!

Three local dealers in Central Scotland all come out with much the same cost to change, give or take £100.

No further discount off a new car price ie published price with VAT discount and all offered me £7.5k for my trade in.

I am prepared to travel and contacted Rainworth following recommendations on the forum.

Rainworth discounted the new car by an extra £600 after a quick mention of drive the deal, but then proceeded to offer me £6.5k for my trade in - boooooooooo.

Therefore Rainworth ended up being £400 more expensive than my local garages, and they are a 300 mile drive away.

So beware, unless you have cash only, they will end up screwing you by giving you a guff trade in.

I am now of the opinion that even if it costs a few hundred extra I would prefer to buy locally.

Good luck.

Always the case if you have a Trade in.

One dealer offered me £5500 while the one I'm purchasing from offered £7,000, so I went with the 2nd one, obviously :D

Rainworth in Mansfield seem to be quite competitive

Left our deposit with them yesterday, £300 more than the DTD price but that was near enough for me with the 0% finance deal

if your happy to travel why not just buy from dtd?

I've seen a few threads in a similar vain, what’s the big secret about what people are actually paying for their cars ?

Indeed. I'm a little confused why you didn't just go with the DTD quote and then buy from that dealer.

I've no secrets: -

I basically paid the book non-VAT prices (i.e. £17033.19 for the car, ~£350 for paint, ~£50 for spare wheel)

7K trade in, leaves me to pay ~£10,300 ish

Well done The Boxer for making a valid point.

When people on here post saying what a fantastic deal they had on their new car, both with a massive discount on the car and top whack on the trade in, are IMO usually talking guff.

They never evidence their claims with facts and figures, and as you say "whats the big secret?" I dont believe that some of these people are also great negotiators, that goes for dealers and buyers.

Good for you gorebrush for giving some detail.

I've already posted this elsewhere, but I have found the dealers very reluctant to give any more discount than the published price ie VAT discount, and when it comes to trade in they give you average price, no more no less. And if you get more money off the new car you get less for your trade in. Like a water bed, apply pressure to one point but another bit pops up!

The DTD price for my car is £16400, but I was happy to pay £17400 because of my trade-in.

Either way, I was looking at ~10K

My trade-in quote was of course quite low so I sold it privately for £1400 more than I was offered as part-ex. Sold within 2 weeks with no problems at all and will deffo do the same next time I change cars.

The VRS came in at £19.3k with DtD, I went with my local dealer for £19.6k to save a huge journey to collect from Marlborough (DtD)

No secrets too......

Needed to trade in (may now have a private sale waiting)

Anyway DTD was around £16000, Dealer costing me around £500 more but with an OK trade in.

Now just waiting for it :(

Ive no secrets, i paid £600 under the VAT free asking price and got mats, spare wheel, full tank, and bluetooth/maxidot wheel thrown in for 'free'.

The biggest seeling point was the part ex they offered me on my Mondeo of £7900.00. They have also signed to say they will honour this part ex price until my new car arrives, which after placing the order on Feb 12th and expecting delivery around the beginning of July with be about 5 months woth or depreciation and mileage!

I used Progress Skoda of Bedford. They got within £250 of DTD price

The price was £17480 which after the VAT off was a further discount of 5.3%

They then gave me what I thought a reasonable price of £9000 for my P/X (2006 Focus ST 5 door)

I was happy with the deal I negotiated and rang probably 5 to 6 dealers.

Spoke to both DTD and Marlborough, the P/X was the stumbling block.

Now paying the balance off using 0% credit deal

Just got my local dealer to get within £500 of DtD price for a Diesel Estate. The clincher was a good trade in price which made the change over cost to be around £10k (see my thread 'ordered new car' for full details).

As an aside the dealer looked at the DtD price and said that it is below cost price so may be difficult for any dealer to fully match it.

I've no secrets to hide, either. I ordered my octy vrs diesel estate with the following options:

- anthracite grey

- leather

- rear parking sensors

- sunset privacy glass

- maxidot

- silver roof rails

- spare wheel

- auto dim mirror

for £18,214. I'm chuffed with the price so don't mind shouting it from the rooftops!

Got a DTD price of £17,609.53 then a Forces Car's Direct price of £17,695, Rainworth deal sealed at £17,978 with the addition of the rear blind and boot netting system on the other prices.

The 205 must know we signed the deal on Friday as the heater matrix has sprung a leak and trashed the stereo!!

Cheers

That is an amasing price, no wonder you are chuffed. Where in the country was this?

No secrets here either.....

deal, with no part ex:

vRS CR Hatchback

Candy White

Maxidot

Spare wheel

Rear parking sensors

MDI

Cost: £16195.

It was at Silbury Skoda in Cramlington. Marlborough Skoda also offered a similar deal but I didn't fancy making the trip from Edinburgh down to London to pick the motor up. Forgot to mention that Silbury are also chucking in a full tank of diesel to get me back up the road. Can't wait to attack the A697 when I (eventually) pick it up!

being thick now, how does that work

do i get a quite from DTD say im intrested, they put m eon to dealer and then carry on from there

wont DTD want some money off me

Nope, they pass on the sale to the dealer and all your conversations are with them.

The dealer pays DtD £250 for brokering the sale.

Just be aware that the dealer will be a high volume setup, and as such will only be interested in getting you out of the door as quick as they can.
