Castle Combe 24/04/10 IMPORTANT INFO!

Featured Replies

OK - Will be linking all people going to this thread by PM, but in the meantime. You need to be aware of the following:-

1) This year there are NO clubstand passes. You simply tell the person taking your entry ticket/s you are with Briskoda at Camp Corner and follow their directions to the stand

2) EVERYONE needs to be on the stand by 9am. You might get away with it a bit later, but not much apparently

3) SATNAV address is: Castle Combe Circuit, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 7EY

4) TRACK SESSION is at 14:15! (that's quarter past two ;)) We will start to head for the pits at 2PM ON THE DOT! :) (maybe earlier if we're a little eager :D)

5) TRACKTIME will require long sleeved tops and crash helmets

6) A FULL driving license is required - I recommend bringing both card & paper, although last year I don't recall them being checked! It says in the rules though so please bring them! Drivers briefing is usually an hour or so before the tracktime, so be aware of this too! I think it can be done at any time though and runs at regular intervals during the day from the Strawbridge Centre (big building next to the pits)

7) FIND ME on the morning as I will have your track time information / forms to fill out. BRING A PEN PLEASE!

8) In regard to organisation on the stand. Please use common sense on the day. Don't block anyone in as they might not be able to get out on track. If you see a car the same colour as yours when you arrive - park next to it. But I am refusing to get involved with finding out everyone's colour, and sorting them out. We will have room for 50 cars so shouldn't be too tough. Might even be able to do 1 row either side of a "track" - Not seen camp corner parking before, but I believe it is where the arrow is on this shot below:-

9) Finally! Enjoy it! Tickets will probably be posted out by myself on Friday but should be with you all early next week. Just remember it's only tickets you will receive in the post, nothing else.

I haven't seen a stand where you posted Jase. I would have thought we would have been more northerly but will wait and see on the day ;)

Ive parked there in the past with an old mini club, its just a vast area of grass! (narrow in places) - so plenty of space, however a bit cut off from the rest of the paddock area.

Yeah i know where you mean, like you say plenty of space but bit tucked away.

yep agree deffo off the beaten track...........the best spot was what brisky had last year

sound good i will get there for as close to 9 as i posibly can!! contact number for any problems would be useful

Yeah - we are a little big this year. :D But the paddock area gets booked early with little clubs who can get organised a lot faster than I can organise this stand, especially with the track time, so we are out the way a little. Hopefully people will still be walking around in that area. :)

This is the usual layout for the paddock area, which we won't be in.

Is there anything to do there i.e. stalls, food vendors etc.?

I didn't go last year and the Combe website doesn't seem to have a lot of info?

There is a decent cafe/restaraunt  there and they do brekkies and lunch, it is popular so usually a queue at the lunch time . There are are other sloppy burger places  around but best to avoid. As for other things to do, no there is not, just the track to watch and have a laugh at some of the antics of the drivers and the drift sessions.

soote is right enjoy the other drivers either stuffing or nearly stuffing their car. A few years ago (probably about 4-5 years ago) I remember a Ford Sierra Cosworth hitting the tyre wall after running out of tallent...........it was a bit of a mess.

i just want to turn up and watch, does anyone know how much it is at the gate? cheers

Think it's £10 on the gate.

But pay on the gate, and say you're with BRISKODA.net and you can park on our stand. ;)

Standard or modified is irrelevant and not the idea behind our stand. It's about the BADGE dude!:giggle:

But it would be nice to wash it - come on, there's a couple of nice evenings coming up weather wise to break out the bucket & washmitt. ;)

PS: GOOD NEWS!!! Tickets arrived today! And will be posted back out tomorrow! SO you should all receive them Saturday really

PSS: BAD NEWS!!!! Castle Combe sent me 50 not 59! :giggle: so I have 6 I am personally taking for people I am convoying, but sadly due to being last 3 on the track list, octavia5, cawmere and simon.skoda will be having a little delay with their single ticket orders. Will ensure Combe at least send them to me so I receive them Saturday and I will post them on very early next week. :)

are you still doing the bonnet lifters? mite get that done if you are:)

you HAD the badge, plus still a Skoda driver at heart. ;) You're just denying it for a little while, thats all. :p

LEX: Yeah, I can do a bonnet lifter (only one I think) in time for Combe but I need to know pretty much NOW so I can get painting underway for it to be finished in time. :)

OK - couple of updates - post all gone. Felt like a post office queue ASBO holder as it takes AGES to get through all the recorded items! :(

Possibly, PASTYBOY might be taking the spare spot on track that vRS Goldie Jon's mate cannot take. B)

Taken from marketing email from Castle Combe. Note the bit about the Skodas! ;)

106 Clubs accepted, a record

10 Trade sites displaying a range of goods and services

Meet Total Vauxhall and Fast Ford Magazine Teams

Lunchtime display by the Gloucester Drift Club

Police Road Safety Display

Try your hand at reversing a trailer with Wiltshire Road Safety

Come and see the FCM Stand and meet the girls

And, a record 106 Clubs displaying approximately 1,600 cars

The Spring Performance Car Action Day is always the biggest of the popular Castle Combe Action Day season and this year’s looks like breaking all records.

Expect to see over 100 Subaru Imprezas, over 50 performance Skodas, 60 performance Peugeots, 40 Porsches, 30 Saabs including an example of a very rare 60’s 2 stoke that so dominated World Rallying in that period. In fact, if it’s a performance car then you’ll highly likely see it.

For those wanting to drive on the track, be quick there are just a handful of track sessions still available. We have few slots at 09.00, a few at 13.00 for the 200bhp Plus session, a few for the 14.00 Renault session, and then general sessions available from approximately 16.00. There is just still time to book in advance to ensure that you can enjoy the circuit as well as your Castle Combe visit.

The track action opens at 09.00 and runs right through to 17.00 so there is always something going on.

All the display areas will be crammed with performance cars, so there is lots to see and enjoy, there is good catering available and look out too for the judging of the ‘Car of the Show’. Each Club will be asked to nominate its own ‘Star’ car from their own member’s vehicles and these will be judged with the coveted, ‘Car of the Show’ awarded at approximately 15.00. Also, there is a special prize for the best Club stand.

To book any of the few track sessions left telephone the Circuit office on 01249 782417 by Tuesday 20th April, but don’t forget too, that there are sometimes returned track passes available from the Castle Combe Action Day Team in the Strawford Centre on the day.

We look forward to your visit, but do please remember to drive with consideration to our neighbours on your way in and out the Circuit, observe the local speed limits, there are often speed camera’s around. But above all drive safely and have a great day.

Oh, and given the size of the stand (which I am told is plentiful for 50 cars.....) I think the following rough shape is best, to allow all cars to be able to get in and leave of their own accord

I will select a few cars to go right at the front / on the ends. :)

Although in foresight, I think I will swap over the Gazebo / eating / sitting area over with the back row of cars so they are not isolated.

Bit like this:

STAND2.jpg

Stand is roughly 40 metres deep by about 60 metres across (my best estimates using google earth satellite view) so should be plenty of room. Even Shreading's landrover & trailer might fit on it. :D

Jason i may be tempted to put the gazebo at the back so people can watch the track if we're not to far down form Camp Corner.
