Yes, there is a funny little thing atop the S in Skoda.

Å

It is not there to look pretty. It means that S is pronounced differently in Czeck than a normal S. This is how a Czeck person says Skoda. So how do you pronounce it?

Is this really Yeti specific?

Is this really Yeti specific?

No, it is not but I think you will find the Yeti people don't really chat outside of the Yeti room... Hence the SMOC.

So in other words you basically do your best Sean Connery impression?

It's like Porsche. To anyone that doesn't own one it's a "Porsh" .... but when you get one you also get the right to sound a little pretentious and pronounce it "porsha".

Well, perhaps the "Yeti people" should, Briskoda is a big forum and something as generic as this would perhaps be better suited elsewhere for a larger response emoticon-0148-yes.gif

It is like "sh-koader"

I remember telling someone in CZ I drive a "Skoda" - "A WHAT?" - and I had to pronounce it correctly..... :giggle:

Of course I say Skoda, as I am British, but it just happens to be the CZ's pronounce it "correctly"

Maybe Yetis are only owned by the shooting set Ben, and it would be lowering the tone to mingle with us mere mortals ;)

Waits for sh!t to hit the fan

Yesh!

emoticon-0140-rofl.gif There is world outside the Yeti forum?! hehehe I will broaden my horizons then and look what goes on this side of the fence as well! Apologies.

And I don't think any of us SM owners or would be owners are from the "shooting set" Brimma. Well not yet anyway... Taking out the rear seats and putting them in the boot facing out to sit under the rear hatch watching horses or something might just turn us over time or make us think we have Range Rovers. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Brimma!!

I always mix with the mere mortals...I mean what would I do without Parker B)

I was told by a Polish guy at work that it should be pronounced Sh-koader but the sh is short emoticon-0126-nerd.gif

Yes - but I'm sure some people haven't got the Brains they were born with, and others are just Virgil on the ridiculous

How did you know I had done 22 years in the Army......I know, it was my 4x4 badge :giggle:

It's 'Porsh-a' because that's how Dr Porche & family pronounced their name! :giggle: 'Porsh' is just wrong.

it's more porsh-uh than porsh-ah

I agree on this one. Porsh-uh. The hair on my back goes up when someone says Porshh.

Sorry, but I'm in the Porsh camp I'm afraid.

I mean, how many people say Folksvagen FFS ? :dull: It's a Volkswaggon

Brimma is -bizarrely enough - correct.

Porsch-a is a private-school girls name. Porshh is the sound of cars that will kill you :)

next you'll be telling me those french cars are made by ren-ollT

It''s similar thing with SEAT, they are not seats that you sit on, but See-at or Say-at. also the Ibiza is an I-Be-tha not Ibit-sa.

What do you call the Lamborghini Countach? Is it, as Clarkson says, the Count-Tash or the Kunt-Tarck

I thought it was just skip? :giggle:

exactly .... i was always told it was pronounced SK-IP. But then i was always told Porsche was pronounced Porch, and Fiat ... Fix It Again Tony. Similarly FORD is Found On Road Dead, or Fix Or Repair Daily.

Of course there is Lotus - Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious. also it would be better saying Fix It Again Today for Fiat.

No. You're both wrong.
