Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

Featured Replies

OK, I've done a search for this and only found comments on how grippy these tyres are in both wet and dry conditions, so that's that bit sorted. However, what I'd like to know is what sort of mileage peeps are getting from these tyres.

My factory fit Dunlops are (IMHO) crap, but the good news is that at 8000 miles the fronts are pretty much on their last legs and I'll be buying some new tyres fairly soon (within the next 2000 miles, maybe less). I think this is shocking as I can't remember ever getting less than 15K from a set of fronts before and they were some budget brand in the dim and distant past...

I've used Michelins for years as they have pretty good grip in both the wet and the dry but also last well. I know the Vreds are cheaper, probably by about £30-40 a corner, but if they only last 10000 miles as well then, in the long run, it's cheaper for me to stick with the Michelins as I know

So, comments from Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta users as to how long they expect the tyres to last please

I am swapping mine even before I take delivery so I may have 2 / 4 if you are interested. The sessanta's are great but they do not last aslong as they are softer, but at 86 a corner plus fitting the pleasure is worth the money. In the snow on a golf gti dsg i wiss able to get places in an auto that manuals were struggling with at it was the tyres. I think they are slightly quieter as well. Byt if you want tyres not sure what is fitted to my vrs as have not taken delivery of it I will have some. Hopefully not the ones you have lol.

ive had the vredi ultracs before, they were a decent tyre, similar tread pattern from memory emoticon-0100-smile.gif

rag,

I currently run Sessanta's on my BMW.

Have covered around 12k in them and still have around 5mm front and back.

Great tyres IMO, best I've had on the beemer.

I think they are great tyres and certainly good value for money. However, I have to be honest and say that they are wearing quicker than I would have hoped. I have about 5mm after about 8k.

Yeah, they seem to be wearing a bit quicker than Michelins. Given the reasonable price and excellent performance, I think it's acceptable and would get them again.

For what it is worth, I had Vredenstein Sessanta Sports on my Mk1 Superb. They worked very well Wet or Dry and I had every confidence in them, and not only that they looked good.

I managed to get 17000 miles out of the fronts and they were still good when I part exchanged it for my Mk 2 Superb.

Me too. It's no hassle for me to have them changed as I have a fitter very local to me. OK so they are not going to last anywhere near as long as the Pilot Exaltos I had on initially but they come in at about £150 a corner and I would cry if I got a nail in the sidewall of one of those. It is a bit of a guess but I think even the Falken 452s that I had on prior to this were wearing a bit better although that could be down to the map I was running at the time. Still a great tyre in performance and value for money.

I have zero chance of getting that out of my Sessantas

Cheers for the comments so far guys, but it looks like they are seriously short supply at the moment anyway, even Elite (someone mentioned in another thread) are saying call rather than quoting a price, which from past experience means "We have none"

Will search online when I get home as I've now got the unenviable prospect of the drive from Glasgow to Birmingham...

15000 all round on the evo, sp preety good in my view, however, I don't thrash it that often.

I replaced all four of the original Dunlops on my VRS with Ultrac Sessantas about a year ago. Much better grip and handling (except in snow!) but they wear a bit faster. Just replaced the front two after 16,500 miles.

I'm on target to get through a set of Dunlops in under 10000 miles so wearing faster is not something I want to hear...

But looking at the comments above looks like 15-16000 or so wouldn't be an unreasonable expectation of tyre life for the vreds. Having had Michelins on my last 3 cars and getting well over 20K out of each set of fronts means that on the financial level there doesn't appear to be that much in it... So if I can find somewhere with the vreds in stock I think I'll give them a try

Camskill seem to have stock:

thanks, but they're the 17 inch ones, I need the 18s...

you could try britania tyres in coventry - you live in brum? They matched camskill for price (18inch) and ordered them for me and cost me £86ish supply and fit 6 months ago.

Cheers, will give them a call on Tuesday...

the tread wear rating on the vredestein tyres is 280. the toyo T1R is also as a trad wear rating of 280.

anyone know the treadwear ratings for the pilot sports and goodyear F1s etc. toyo R888s for example have a treadware rating of 140

the rating is on the tyre sidewall

Higher numbers are better?

The Dunlops (Maxx Sport GT) currently on mine are 240...

Higher is better but I get the impression the number is about as much use as mini hi-fi system manufacturers PMPO power ratings. :giggle:

Or a Dunlop on a vRS...

I'm running Bridgestone Potenza's at the moment..................good tyres but wear quick and not cheap. Think i'll be looking into the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.

Best tyres i used (on a budget) were Nexen's :o on my vRS. Not super super grippy but wear well. How about Toyo Proxies? Had then on my Ibiza FR and they were good

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta - 8K on mine and no noticable wear.........and I rag it! High grip levels, progressive breakaway, peerless wet handling etc etc. Buy em. ........... Do not however buy Toyo Proxes. They used to be really good but they mucked about too much with the tread pattern and compound and have been left behind by even some of the budget brands.

Granted i used Proxes many many years ago.................

You running them at the front, Wardth? Agree with all that you said although I have about 8k on mine too and don't think I will get 10k out of them. The diesels and 4WDs mentioned above will of course fair a lot better with any rubber.

rags - as you live in Brum, try Longbridge Tyres, just up the road from me. They are a Vrede agent, so do great deals on sessanta's - the 225/40/18's for the front of my beemer were just £78 fitted.
