Fabia vRS (OFFICIAL UK PRICES AND SPEC)

Featured Replies

I think those writing off the new vRS because of the DSG gearbox, really need to test drive before jumping to any conclusions!

Believe me, I have test driven the SEAT Bocenegra.... write the vRS off at your peril! It's bloody quick off the mark and has frightening power, midrange when you decide to give it some welly, covering a large distance very quickly indeed! Ok, the new vRS won't have as much torque ,but I really don't think we'll notice too much difference.

From what I have read, the reviews for the Ibiza Cupra/Bocenegra have not been too great but from what I experienced yesterday, I didn't find the DSG gearbox too much of a problem.......and as the vRS engine has apparently been much better utilised , that leaves me very excited!

The paddles are fantastic , gear changes are incredibly smooth ,almost silent.. Yes, you do lose out slightly due to the lower torque ,but put it into sports mode and it really don't half shift! ( I wasn't allowed to push it too much ,but got to 6000 revs and boy does it make you shiver! )

What you will lack in torque and the ability to effortlessly overtake, the power down at the bottom makes me very happy indeed and for once we won 't be left behind at the traffic lights!

Bring the DSG Fabia vRS right on!

Whats the procedure for overtaking Bingo? Just floor the accelerator and let the DSG sort itself out?

I didn't have loads of time in the car, the salesman only allowed me 20 mins as I think he got the impression I didn't really want to buy a SEAT..............but I found it useful to stay in drive most of the time ,and the dsg takes care of itself...when overtaking, I found it best to ram it into sports mode and step on the gas with more urgency...believe me it really works well as it allows those revs to increase more to get that power you want!

Overtaking is still fantastic ,despite the lower torque.

It's hard to explain ,let me see.........today I was in my vRS on a 60 road and saw a bmw 1.8i trying to catch me up. I put my foot down and was able to counteract him by making use of the torque. In the new vRS, you would still be able to do this but to a slightly less degree. Don't forget, we are only talking a difference of 60NM torque ( it's only really 25% less than the old vRS ) ,which aint that much. I was amazed at how urgent the car feels right from the off ( an incredible increase of power from the old vRS ) , it really is a damn fast thing, it gives you a real buzz! And because of this feeling I got from driving the SEAT yesterday ,I aint going to lose any sleep over the car not being a manual! The slight problem of not feeling 'connected' like you would with a manual is kind of true, but that's what the flappy paddles are for, allowing you control, and not forgetting you can still use the gearstick in +/- mode to change up and down when required. )

Trust me....the new vRS is going to be one heck of a car!

The SEAT salesman has done me a massive favour....I won't even need to test drive before I put my deposit down. I can't wait, I really can't!

You can if you park a bit nearer to Iceland.

If we can get one on a "vat free" offer I'll have white with a white roof.

I can't give massive discounts as we don't have £3,500 margins but I'd do whatever I can to help get a sale!

Blue Estate with white wheels for me please! :D Preferably without roofbars if roofbar delete is an option.

I'm not knocking DSG but would worry about long term reliability with one and would have liked the option of a manual: very complex drive train with the engine having both a superchatger and a turbo. I am warming to this little car but have heard it won't be in the VAT off scheme. Therefore I'd be happy with a manual 1.2 tsi 105 at around £10K(VAT free) and use the other £5.7k on a Caribbean holiday or, if I was a biker, a decent nearly new bike :)

Ive been hearing lots of negative views of longer term reliability of DSG transmissions, mainly electronic related. Garage Ive used says its having lotsof issues around 50 to 60,000 miles. A mates brother bought a new Q5 with DSG and it keeps needing reprograming and is only a few months old.

This started me looking around the net. It seems that this is a 'new' dry clutch dsg box. If these boxes do fail, they are hellishly expensive to replace (~£3K). It could affect resale prices dramatically. However, I read about the DSG's behaviour in snow and ice and found it a little worrying.

I must admit, I wouldnt want to be buying a used one in a few years... turbo, supercharger plus DSG all adds up to very expensive repairs. I know all cars are getting very complex now but this VRS does seem a tad OTT for a supermini, nice though it is.

I dont like diesel, but theres a lot to be said for a 2 litre with loads of HP and torque with a manual box :giggle: apart from the inevitable DPF!

There's always the 1.2 TSI available with 5 speed manual, and there should be a sportline spec of that soon. The 105BHP should shift pretty nicely and can be chipped too.

Agree 100% with that, I reckon that might well be my next car in 2 or 3 years time.

I really can't wait to test drive one now. Granted I love a manual but I really want a go of something with DSG and I really miss a petrol.

DSG is definitely the way to go for the vRS.

I've tried it and it's fantastic! Looking forward to ordering one ,it can't come quick enough :)
