Featured Replies

Hi, looking for the a guide on how to change the front speakers on my fabia.

1. what adapters do I need? Just been looking on ebay but the car model/year they have seems to be confusing.

2. What speakers are needed and is the depth limit? Don't want loud just to replace a torn speaker.

thanks

Are you just replacing an OEM one? If you are, the large speaker in the driver's door is about £13 + VAT to replace (with an OEM unit). Just a thought. :)

Golf mk4 speaker spacers/adapters. Max size speaker is 170mm or 6.5". Max depth is just over 60mm. Otherwise you end up with magnet/window mech issues and/or speaker cone/surround to interior door trim issues. If you're sticking with the OEM head unit, stick with co-axial speaker sor you may lose too much volume... Then you'd have to add an amp... :)

Excellent, thanks for the info vindaloo, we need the thanks button back :)

would these work? and is that a good price?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-FABIA-165mm-SPEAKER-ADAPTOR-KIT-SAK-3108-/270379044799?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_Car_Speakers_PP&hash=item3ef3d8cfbf

only thing my model is a 2000 so would that work as its for the newer ones.

found a mk4 golf on ebay...looks the same but cheaper...

The 60mm depth is with the spacer thing no doubt? I read it was about 4 which is quite shallow.

thanks again all!

Ah, fair enough. :) Don't know enough to suggest replacement units (although the OEM ones sound fine to me on mine) - hope you find something to your liking! :)

I'm also lookin to replace my speakers, but don't get which type I require and whether I need to change anything to make them fit. I did find these http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/products/product-singleview/custom-fit-speakers/sxe-1725s.html which are sold at Halfords for £29.99 a pair, or ebay seems to have plenty for sale cheaper.

I drive a Skoda Fabia 1.9TDi Comfort Estate 'Y' Reg. Any help with how many speakers of what size, Wattage, RMS Etc and what adapters would be required would be really appreciated. Also a link to how to completely remove the door card would be good, searched for TFBOY's post, but couldn't find it.

Hi,

Just joined as I have a similar problem. Bought a 2000 Fabia and only the driver's door speaker works intermittently. I don't want anything fancy, just a decent set of speakers so I can hear what I'm trying to listen to.

What size do I need to buy? Some seem to say 13.5 is the correct size, but can take up to 17.

If I get 17s, do I need any adaptors etc to ensure it fits? Sorry for all the qs.

Thanks,

+1 for buying, or making MDF rings... Much more flexible!

Thanks Oli3000 - just to double check I understand

Can buy up to 18cm speakers?

MDF rings - what size do I buy, or is it dependant on speakers purchased

...just as long as you don't have damp doors...

I'm on my way of performing an upgrade on the front door speakers as well. Now, browsing around the web for adaptor rings seems to be quite a hassle. I must say I'm a bit confused. I have a Fabia 2003 Estate, and as far as I know the Fabias were only divided into Mk1's, Mk2's, and Mk3's, where Mk1 is 2000-2007, Mk2 is 2007-2015, and Mk3 is 2015, where some years "share" two builds e.g. there are both Mk1's and Mk2's from 2007. Anyways, it seems some eBay auctions and also some reputable ICE resellers have split the adaptor rings to fit only a limited range of e.g. the Mk1. Take this auction for example, now is it simply a typo that they have written "Skoda Fabia ->2001" in the list of fitting vehicles, where all others (e.g. "Seat Leon 2000->") have the "->" after the year. I'm confused. Will the item I linked fit my 2003 Estate Fabia, you think?

Yes, will fit fine

silly question time, would the availble depth be different if you had eletric windows v's winders? ie is the motor in the way or the actual mechanism (forgot what the inside of my door looks like!)

It's the mechanism/glass, motor is higher up.

But does the manual differ from the eletric winder?

I skipped the MDF solution and ordered plastic adaptor rings from eBay. Now they've arrived. They look like this.

From what I can tell, it doesn't look exactly like the rings I've laid eyes on from other forum threads on this matter for this (Fabia Mk1) model.

To be honest, I'm a bit nervous on how it's ment to install these. Could anyone here who have done it shed any light over this? I didn't get neither any fasteners nor any instructions with the package, but only these two black rings.

Oh, while we're at it, what's the max depth on after market 6,5" speakers, for clearance I mean? I'm thinking about getting a pair of Pioneer speakers. They have some sort of guide website ( http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/car_accessories/Skoda/Fabia/09_1999/speakers.html ) where they list a couple of models that seem to be guaranteed to work on a 2003 Fabia, like mine. I hope I can trust this information.

Oh, I have electric front windows, does this matter at all? I'm free tomorrow, so if I get a good vibe I'll start drilling out the OEM:s then.

Cheers!

hi

gewstarr how did you manage to mount the rings?? i know about taking out the rivets ect ect but how did you get the rings to sit ie did you use a tiny self tapping screw and go in to the four holes in the ring and bolt it down or did you use a long screw and bolt through the top???
